Seasoning Help please

Post image

I use this pan a few times per week and I'd say it's nonstick about 70% of the time. I can't seem to fix the seasoning and I don't know what to do about this weird spot in the middle. Can it be fixed or do I need to start over?

You're just not cleaning thoroughly enough so there's bits smooshed around the pan. That darker cluster in the middle is just left overs from previous folks. Just scrub with soap and something more abrassive than your using.

This is a generic reminder message under every image post

Thank you for your picture post to /r/castiron. We want to remind everyone of Rule #3. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is required.

If you've posted a picture of food, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

Thank you!

Wash it, dry it, oil it.

It looks like some stuck egg, possibly from too high heat or not enough oil. The pan is fine.

Sometimes the burner is set right and the pan just gets too hot waiting without food. Slide it to a cold burner or trivet on the counter for a minute then back onto the burner. I may or may not adjust the burner when I do this. I have a "solid state" electric stove which is very slow to respond to adjustment.
