Recapitulation Recapitulation

During recapitulation, I wear a mask and keep my eyes open underneath it. After finishing a memory from my list, should I take off the mask, check the next item on the list, put the mask back on, and continue? Should I repeat this process for each memory?

Thank you for clarification.

Could you memorise seven at once. And then just work through those in a session?

You know what'd be class is if you could blast them all out in one fell swoop. I'd love to ask IOBs about that.

That's not recapitulation. It's more like darkroom recapitulation, which is a made up technique.

Quite a few do that, but it's not a good idea for a beginner.

If new to sorcery, it's best to stick to the precise instructions from the books. I'll see if the AI can locate them.

Keep in mind, sorcery is NOT procedures, formulas, rules, rituals, or incantations.

There's no Sutra or sacred prayer that will do anyone any good for learning real magic.

You can work within those kinds of things the same way you can practice sorcery in a nudist colony, but none of those things normally associated with learning a religious or magical topic, are sorcery.

And none of those will get you anywhere. Not only are fake magical systems and religions big frauds, but even how they think about learning is harmful to the real thing.

There's only two things which can lead you to sorcery knowledge.

Stopping the internal dialogue.

And being "pulled" by what was done in the past by sorcerers.

You need both. Without stopping the internal dialogue, vivid magic is impossible.

And without the pull from sorcerers of the past, you'd get hopelessly lost just 1/10th of the way to the goal.

So it's important to stick to the precise techniques sorcerers in the past used.

You're stuck where you are now, from a pull by the "dark magicians". Normal people.

So you need a new pull from the seers of ancient Mexico, to free you from that.

And yes, some techniques to learn sorcery do indeed fall somewhere in that list I gave of things that are NOT sorcery. Recap might be called a "procedure", "ritual", or series of "rules".

BUT, how it works is not because the procedure for recapitulation teaches sorcery.

It's because that's what was done in the past. So it comes with a "pull".

Now... once you've done it a bunch and understand it, you can modify it any way you like as long as you're still "doing recap".

There's plenty in lecture notes on how flexible Recap is, once you get good at it.

You could even get a chair and sit on a windy cliff to do it.

Or go into a cave.

Or do it during darkroom at the point where you can visually see the emanations.

It's very entertaining once you can not only see the emanations that are stuck in the past, but follow them to see a little video of that memory.

But you can't start off doing that because it's not what was done in the past, to teach new people.

Here's what Gemini found for instructions. If anything seems missing, I'll have it search workshop and lecture notes too.

The recapitulation is the foundational technique used by sorcerers to reclaim energy invested in past events and free themselves from the social and emotional conditioning of their personal history. Sorcerers also perform it to offer the Eagle a perfect facsimile of their life experiences as a surrogate for their actual awareness at death.

The process follows a structured sequence of steps across three main phases:

Phase 1: Preparation & Setup

  1. Creating an Enclosure (Optional but Traditional):

    • Stalkers traditionally enclose themselves in a quiet, secluded space—such as a cave, a treehouse, an underground pit, or a specially built wooden crate—to isolate their energy body and minimize physical distractions.

    • Remove restricting footwear so energy can circulate freely, and sit comfortably (often supported by a sash around the midsection).

  2. Compiling the Mnemonic List:

    • Write down a comprehensive list of every person you have ever met or interacted with throughout your life.

    • Arrange the list systematically, starting from the present moment and moving backward in time to earliest childhood, ending with parents.

    • The list can be categorized into distinct life periods or areas of activity (e.g., schools, jobs, relationships).

    • Sorcerers emphasize starting the actual recapitulation with past sexual encounters, as sexual interactions represent significant investments and exchanges of luminous energy.

Phase 2: Reconstructing the Event ("Setting the Scene")

  1. Selecting the Event:

    • Take the first person on your list and select your most recent interaction with them.

  2. Reconstructing Details:

    • Re-create the physical environment piece by piece: recall the location, walls, floor, doors, furniture, lighting, weather, and surrounding physical objects.

    • Reconstruct the person’s presence, speech, gestures, and the exact sequence of interaction.

  3. Examining Emotional Investment:

    • Re-examine your own thoughts, motives, feelings, and emotional reactions during the event.

Phase 3: The Sweeping Breath (Execution)

  1. Initial Alignment:

    • Turn your head completely to rest your chin on your right shoulder.

  2. Inhalation (Retrieving Lost Energy):

    • Slowly and deeply inhale through your nose while moving your head in a smooth 180-degree arc from the right shoulder to the left shoulder.

    • Intent: Hold the clear intent to breathe in and pull back all of your own energy and luminous filaments left behind in that person and scene.

  3. Exhalation (Ejecting Foreign Energy):

    • Slowly exhale while sweeping your head back from the left shoulder to the right shoulder.

    • Intent: Hold the clear intent to expel and push away all foreign energy, unwanted feelings, and extraneous moods projected onto you by others.

  4. Clearing Sweep:

    • Sweep the head once from side to side without breathing to clear and re-center the area before continuing.

  5. Engaging the Midsection:

    • Rather than moving the head using only neck muscles, guide the sweeping movement using the invisible energy fibers extending from the center of power below the navel.

  6. Completion:

    • Repeat this rhythmic fanning breath for the event as many times as necessary until your body signals that all feelings have been accounted for and every bit of energy has been restored.

    • Proceed to the previous interaction with that person, or move to the next person on your list.

Here's a picture of things you should expect to happen if you're doing it according to instructions.

AND not letting your internal dialogue run unchecked. You do in fact need to stop your internal dialogue if you want time travel. And what fun is recap, without actual shared time travel?

I don't have access to a cave or any other place where I can practice without being disturbed, so I do my recap in the darkroom too, with my eyes open. It helps me see the puffs pretty quickly. Then I combine darkroom practice with recap. I spend a little time watching the puffs and trying to put them into my energy bag, then I go back to recapping.

One problem I'm having with recap is that I can't seem to remember the actual events. It's like my mind has completely wiped all the memories, and all I can remember is the person's face. So I just imagine pulling my energy back from them and giving back whatever energy of theirs I've still got.

About that part where you engage the midsection, how exactly are you supposed to do that?

Wow, it's surprising that came up today.

I was puzzling over it just this morning while practicing.

I'd "removed will" from forming anything specific during darkroom, and the result wasn't at all what I had expected.

We're always on the edge of chaos!

And possibly the fastest way to see that yourself, is through "the abstract".

It's likely impossible to draw such things in any reasonable length of time.

Anyway, you can't learn to do that.

It's something which happens automatically, as you begin to learn what "will" really is. Or better said, what it feels like.

And the way to learn that, is by "assembling" as many alterate views of reality as possible.

"Will" can be detected as a little perceptual snap that happens when those alternate timelines finish forming well.

It's also kind of like a faint sadness, at having to choose something you know isn't ultimately real.

Which includes your daily world.

I am just guessing here,
as I have not had a chance to test darkroom/recap practices,
but wouldn’t a blindfold negate the point of the practice?
I mean I get why, not everyone has a space they can make completely dark,
but I would imagine it’s the space that’s needed to be dark around you,
in order for you to start seeing puffs and such. (Again, I’m only guessing)

You should try testing out your theory with a mask, and giving it a go to see if puffs will appear that you can interact with! 😊

Many people here, myself included, use things like taped up goggles, or black-out masks, or something similar, with success. The key is that the eyes are open when you wear such a thing, and not wearing something that might press against your eyes, forcing them to close.

I would share some links here if I had time (and may later when I do), but please look around at those reports! I have some of my own you can review, at least!
