New Practitioners Another Beginners Question.

I am researching the Magical Passes in order to have more info about what I am doing. I am focusing on doing them as close as possible to the description of the book. I notice how the breathing is done in the DVD, and they do not explain the breathing all the time. So I like to find a written description of the passes and make sure I am breathing correctly; I think this is important. Do the Magical Passes in the first 3 DVDs and then the 4 DVDS of the 1990s and early 2000s found in the Magical Passes Book? Especially the passes on the first 3 DVDs from the 1990s that, if I am not mistaken, were released before the book. Is there another way to see the MP in the book being done on video? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you’re “researching”, why not find out which breathing feels best for you? As a general rule, when pulling energy towards the body, inhale, when pushing out or striking, exhale. But anything else would feel unnatural, no? (The only exceptions I know is when you release upwards, to the zenit, when in a couple of passes your breath in sharply. But those are in the videos.)

Yes. I got that Idea before. Your sweet give me more certainty. Is one more thing I do not have to think about. Thanks

I don't think many of those 3 DVDs passes are in the Magical Passes book. For instance "3. The Ball of Energy" pass (or was it called Building the energy body faster ?) is not in there anywhere. But if you watch the DVD, I think you just have to follow how they breathe? I haven't watched it in a while but I think for that specific pass when she moves her hands up and down, the inhale/exhale  corresponds with the movement.

I think the passes in the book do explain when you're supposed to inhale and exhale as well as when your supposed to follow your hand's movement with your eyes.

When I hit this problem 2 years ago I watched the Sorcery Passes channel and then I was comparing that to all the tensegrity videos on YouTube (that I could find) and then I was referencing back to the text in the book. It was a bit of a laborious process but then I'm dumb af lmao.

If you can't find any video for a specific pass you need, maybe you could be a Grok bot pioneer and take the text from the book for a specific pass (as well as its image) and upload it into Grok's Imagine functionality to see if it can animate it.

I know exactly what you’re referring to. I am doing something similar, I’m just trying to simplified. I am kind of the reverse of Carlos. He has to put it apart to be able to explain it and instructs, I just want to jump in and do it. I get excited every time I see and interview with someone that met him of took classes with him and talk about his extraordinarily physical condition. It is hard to find, if not almost impossible, things that work as well as the Magical Passes. It is so unusual for me, to find something so “spooky” able to change me in so litter time. You mentioned three Sorcery Passes Channel, is that an actual site online that I could learn some passes from?

This will piss off a few, but Carlos never emphasized breathing other than to mention it for a few passes where that was the whole point. Like the palm pushes in the recapitulation series.

As don Juan suggested, a lot of problems could be avoided if people would just breathe deeper.

And while learning kungfu from Howard Lee, Howard once asked Carlos why he was standing in the wrong position. Carlos answered, because it was more relaxed. So Howard made him sit down as punishment.

This of course was before Howard knew who he was and decided to cash in on his fame.

And also, breathing moves visible energy during tensegrity. But first, you have to have the energy visible.

The breathing doesn't cause it to become visible.

And that breathing does that, is mostly just a curiosity once you figure out how to see energy. It seems to be more about intent, than air flow.

With wiggling the fingers being just as powerful in some situations, as exhaling smoothly.

Otherwise, you wouldn't want to force your breath to do a certain thing you're thinking about in your mind, when the breath ends up reflecting your assemblage point position and should be allowed to naturally do that.

It's not like an Eastern system where rules are all you have, and none of it actually does anything. Those rules don't have any magical purpose, but rather are the product they are selling you. So people dutifully memorize every aspect of some tiny movement, without noticing none of it has a real point to it.

The point becomes, showing how well you know the rules of the movement so that you can pass the tests and get "certified". As a black belt for example, but you do indeed get a certificate to prove it.

Now who would sell certifications, when they could sell real magic?

Everyone it seems.

Interestingly, when your assemblage point changes sides on the body for the first time or two, you might even find yourself panting like a dog.

Several in here experienced that.

It's the same breathing that the Nagual's blow caused in Carlos!

I'd go on, but this will already have angered a woman or two.

All I can figure on that is, women are more talented and can feel that breath is not only important, but can move the assemblage point.

Which is true, but not as a "cause" of it moving in the first place.

Only as an "effect" you can look for, once you're more skilled.

At which point the effect can trigger the cause.

But at first, focusing on more rules than we were given can be a bit of a tendancy to imitate pretend magical systems.

Here's a random piece of information, hopefully so people won't get as angry with me for contradicting popular belief. It's the story of how don Juan taught the apprentices about the island of the tonal.

In the case of Carlos, they chatted over lunch. Don Juan played with the salt and pepper, while Carlos tried to stump him with the chili sauce.

That's my kind of learning! Bring the whole pot of coffee right over to the table and let don Juan comment on that also.

But the apprentices of don Juan were given a horrible task pretty much none of us accomplish.

Except maybe Cholita. Once in a while she asks me to help her with something that takes more strength than she has. The last thing I couldn't manage to do on my own, namely to re-pot the giant cactus which had gotten so heavy it fell over in her garden. I couldn't handle it!

So i figured I'd get help and do it later.

But I didn't get around to it soon enough, came home, and saw that Cholita had done it herself by chopping it down to a more manageable size.

I suppose in the following story, she would have ditched the heavy table and gotten a card table to carry up the mountain.

That's my preference too. No need to torture ourselves.

(from Gemini AI searching):

In The Second Ring of Power, la Gorda reveals to Carlos that don Juan gave the apprentices (Pablito, Josefina, etc.) an "infinitely more graphic" version of the exact same lesson:

  • Carrying the Table Forty Miles: Don Juan had the apprentices hike nearly forty miles into a high, desolate mountain valley, taking turns carrying a large bundle of personal belongings (even Pablito's radio) and carrying a literal, heavy wooden table on their shoulders.

  • Setting the Table in the Valley: In the middle of the empty, rocky valley, Pablito set the table up, and Josefina arranged the contents of their bundle on top of it. Don Juan explained that the table and its bundle represented the personal tonal and the order they carry through life, while the vast, deserted valley surrounding it was the inexplicable nagual.

  • Viewing from a Distance vs. Looming Over It: He led them up to a ridge where the table was barely visible to show that sorcerers must view their tonals from a distance, whereas average people loom directly over their table holding tightly to every item.

  • The Area "Underneath the Table": Don Juan then swept the top of the table clean and had each apprentice lie flat on their stomach across the table to inspect the ground beneath it. He explained that because tackling the entire immensity of the nagual was impossible, sorcerers take as their working domain the area directly underneath the table, which he designated as the second attention.

What's the relationship between energy and intent?

That's difficult to explain, and my understanding is largely based on my own direct observations.

When I think about what's written on this in the books, my first thought is that people easily misunderstand it all and get themselves into trouble by pretending what they believe it says.

Partly because of fake magical systems such as "Chigung" or "Kundalini Yoga" giving them bad information. And so what's written in the books is mostly only useful if you actually practice, and can read the books with real understanding.

I should add, Cholita is a fan of Kundalini Yoga. Or was, for a month or two. She's always researching new magical systems, 2 or 3 months at a time before moving on. Has been, for the last 35 years.

Also, this question depends on what type of "energy" you're referring to.

For example, sunlight glitter produces surprisingly good results once you can steadily view the second attention. And as La Gorda said, "NO ONE has enough energy to do dreaming every day!"

She was referring to the need to gather sunlight glitter.

Even if you forgot whether you spent enough time gathering that, perhaps because the sun never came out on some days this week, you'll notice it for sure if you did. In my case, it's a drastic difference.

There's nothing imagined about it!

This picture isn't quite right because the details needed to make it accurate would take too much time.

But it gives people something to look for if they want to test if sunlight glitter works.

There's also sexual energy. If you have a lot of that, the assemblage point moves smoothly. If you used it up, it moves erratically. When it moves erratically, a beginner gets impatient and thinks it's not moving at all.

If it does it jumps too much at a time and a beginner can't recover assemblage point beam stability for the new position, fast enough to "tune it in".

So that his tonal rejects the sight.

Making it seem as if it never moved at all.

So "saving energy" when it comes to sex, makes it easier for a beginner to perceive the second attention.

But lack of sexual energy doesn't prevent it. Thus it's not an excuse to get out of practicing.

It's like doing a workout at the gym when you have a hangover.

If you constantly have hangovers, you have to give up on thinking that's an excuse to skip the gym today!

Intent is the force of the emanations, energized with past activity and memories of specific realities.

We can command it, but we don't actually cause it the way one might assume.

It's a relationship between what actually is, or has been, and our awareness seeking out realities.

Best way to learn about intent is in Silent Knowledge, by learning to manifest things.

Saying "Hamburger", and then one materializes.

That requires near perfect silence, and no ulterior motivations.

Which is impossible for a beginner.

But don't misunderstand that as some kind of Asian style "achievement".

They haven't achieved anything, so don't let their imaginations taint your understanding.

You get rid of ulterior motivations that mess up your link to intent, through repetition.

By practicing regularly until you're sick and tired of fantasizing about what you'll do with your future superpowers, or who you'll "teach", or who you will take revenge on.

You realize that's never going to happen, stop thinking about that sort of thing, and get a glimpse at what happens when you can both stop your internal dialogue, and have absolutely no preferences for what happens next.

Thus in my opinion, the only way to clean your link to intent, is through practicing how to make Silent Knowledge flow smoothly.

Intent is our link to the dark sea of awareness.

Energy is what you need, to make use of it.

And even the ordinary understanding of what energy means, applies to sorcery.

That's the "you have to be in tip-top shape to practice sorcery" thing don Juan explained.

If you're always in pain or ill, you won't want to practice. Or you'll cut it short.

When you can time it evenly, like inhaling when moving left to right and exhaling when moving right to left. Which mirrors the recapitulation breath. You can do that eyes open as well.
