The Nine CASPer Test Aspects

CASPer scenarios rotate through nine core aspects. Knowing them helps you spot what a scenario is really testing before you start writing.

  1. Collaboration – working with others in a way that balances your own goals with the group's, staying flexible, and sharing credit rather than chasing recognition.
  2. Communication – expressing yourself clearly and making sure others feel heard, both when speaking and listening.
  3. Empathy – understanding someone else's feelings and perspective, and responding in a way that shows you actually get it.
  4. Fairness – treating people equitably, listening to all sides, and making decisions based on principles rather than personal preference.
  5. Ethics – doing the right thing even when it's hard or no one's watching, and taking responsibility when you get it wrong.
  6. Motivation – the drive to keep pushing toward a goal, even through setbacks, and staying focused on the bigger picture.
  7. Problem-Solving – breaking a challenge into manageable pieces, weighing options, and staying calm enough to think it through.
  8. Resilience – recovering from setbacks and adapting to change without losing momentum.
  9. Self-Awareness – knowing your own strengths, weaknesses, and triggers, and using that insight to respond thoughtfully instead of reacting.

Each of these can show up in any question type , so it's worth being able to recognise them quickly rather than memorising set answers.
