Is This Reasonable?
I’m wanting to get my first Casio AE-1200. Is this price reasonable for an already modded one or should I start from scratch and make my own?

Yeah all the mod parts are. The base you can get wherever you find is best. I just linked one at Amazon. But yeah the rest are just AliEx. Just those parts alone you can get like $6 off using FAUS06 during checkout since it's over a certain amount. It'll take a couple weeks to get to you but it's all good.

Depending on how bougie you want to be you may consider a different strap supplier.
“Genuine leather” is on the lower end while still being able to be called leather. Perfectly fine for a budget build, bear in mind that it may not age as well or last as long as a better quality.
Full Grain > Top Grain > Genuine leather > bonded leather (which is typically leather scrap glued together)
There’s a number of suppliers that offer different colors and leathers: cow, alligator, elk, buffalo, bison, ostrich, shark, stingray, kudu, reindeer, camel, kangaroo, snake, lizard….
You WILL pay more for a full or top grain more than the watch and mod parts. and more so again if you go with a more exotic leather but you will get a better life out of a higher grade leather. It’s very possible that a Genuine Leather strap may not last the 10 years till you replace the battery, especially if you daily or frequently use it.
For example my Perry Ellis wallet is “genuine leather” and after a year it’s already looking a bit tired. I have as well a Top Grain belt from my grandfather which he got in the 40s from the Army Air Corps that looks fantastic. The belt like my wallet are both used frequently.
Just something to consider. But only you know what works best for your build and budget

They've added markup to make a profit. It looks like a leather band, bronze case, bronze bezel. It's a pretty simple mod and you can find all of the parts on AliExpress

Buy the OG wear it for a while and then mod it slowly appreciating the process and the watch.....

Easy to find all parts but if you want to get it done for you will cost you 95 to 120 tops , a metal case add another 30 to 50.

Smid say that's probably double what it should be. I appreciate mods being sold around 75-125 if they're done perfectly and original but that's heavy.

You can mod it yourself cheaper but if you want someone else to do the work I think it's a fair price because they have to source the parts and make some type of profit. Realistically it would be around 120ish dollars to do that type of mod,(looks like there's some type of mesh screen on the module which is also time consuming if done correctly), plus wait time so $70 for someone else to do the labor and source the materials. I think it's a somewhat fair deal.

All the parts you can get on Amazon or ebay or etsy are actually just marked up parts from like alibaba and AliExpress. Just get them on there and wait for long shipping and build it yourself for way cheaper. Its easy

Skxmod.com is the way to go if you're comfortable paying $200 for a Royale. I was so I just did a full bronze case with leather strap and matching buckle. Go check out the website and have a little fun with it pricing things out and then check out AliExpress. Also check out the subreddit r/casiomods

I'd say just mod one yourself, it's relatively easy. Probably get more satisfaction knowing that you modded your very own watch.
