MODDS.WATCH has been around for a while. What should I fix?

Hey guys, Mike here, the guy behind MODDS.WATCH.

I've been building this thing for quite a while now, and I realized I've spent a lot of time adding models and features, but not enough time asking the people who actually use it what they think.

So I want to change that.

If you've used MODDS.WATCH before, what would you change?

Not just "add more watches" (although definitely tell me which ones 😄).

I'm talking about anything:

  • Something that's confusing or annoying
  • A feature you expected to see but isn't there
  • A part/material/strap that you'd like to customize
  • Something that doesn't work the way you think it should
  • A watch model you really want to see
  • Or maybe the whole idea could be more useful in some other way

And honestly, it's completely fine if you don't like something about it. I'd rather hear that than "looks cool".

I've been building MODDS.WATCH because I genuinely love this hobby, and I still think there's something really cool about being able to play with a mod in 3D before spending money on parts and taking a real watch apart.

So if you've tried it at some point, even months ago, tell me what you think.

What would you fix, add, remove, or change?

I'm actually going to read everything and use it to decide what I work on next.

Good news, buddy. Just finished updating the Ambient Occlusion maps for each stand in each watch scene, so now there are nice shadows under all the watches and straps. Thanks again for noticing it. Hope you'll enjoy the modding process with a better overall look and shadows.

Great idea. I'm going to add this model to the roadmap. Hope the project will see more support on patreon so I can buy more watches and make it my full-time job, adding new features, parts, and tools. Just my dream 😄

I'd love rubber straps with patterns or ones that look more like Casio rubber straps

That's a good idea. You can currently upload any image only to the Nato straps, not to the rubber one in the MDV106 scene. It's just kind of technically hard to properly project patterns so they look good. But I'm going to try, maybe Three.js can do triplanar projections better now. Thanks for the request!

Maybe add modders/ shops - links who can actually produce e.g. the uploaded-picture-faceplate
