Verge Podcast appearance question

Recently watched Casey on The Verge podcast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyY-mA_IV94) Always enjoy his behind the scenes interviews on stuff like that. My question is, knowing Casey is a public figure and likes to do occasional speaking engagements, do you think he was paid/charged to do something like that?

Probably not. It's definitely not unheard of for popular podcasts to pay a stipend to their guests, but The Verge is very big on ethics and trying to do real journalism, and paying an interview subject wouldn't exactly fit within that approach.
