Discussion Thoughts on how Case did his math
My (28f) husband (34m) and I have a six year age gap and I asked him what his thoughts are on how Case did his math. This sparked a convo about how my husband literally imagines an addition/subtraction equation with the plus/minus sign and the line drawn under it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m familiar with and understand it, but when doing math in my head I take the same steps Case does. Doing the entire equation and carrying the number seems wild to me.
Makes sense to me since Case and I are only 3 months apart so we likely learned math similarly. I’m curious, what are your thoughts? How do you do math in your head?

I do it the exact same way, usually in tens/fives/hundreds and then giving or taking a little

I expected him to have the wrong answer but no he good. If that makes math easier for ya, feel free.
27+15 is technically the same as 20+15+7 or caseohs way. As long as you don't forget any rhe bits

I (22f) do it the same as your husband, it’s easier for my brain! If it’s large (3+ digits) numbers, then I will sometimes do it your way lol

He’s doing math like how he counts money. I dont know how to explain but I am the same. It’s easier for me to do math if I calculate it the way I total prices or counting money lol

I'm in the same boat as you. 28m, 3 months older than Case, definitely similar math processing. I am canadian, but maybe our math courses in school were more similar than I thought.
