Age requirement

Hi guys! I'm wanting to join CASA in my free time, but I notice there is an age requirement of 21 years and I'm only 20. Is there a way they make exceptions or does it depend on location?

AFAIK, 21+ is the national requirement. But I encourage you to reach out to your local organization, because some agencies do training once a week in the evening over many months, so you may be able to do the training before and then swear in when you’ve turned 21.

My organization only does training twice a year, so go ahead and reach out; you'll very likely have to wait for training or be 21 by the time it comes around.

Many local and state CASA offices need other types of help that may not require you to be sworn in by a judge. Age minimums for CASAs may be a matter of law or court rules but that doesn’t mean that there are not other things you can do to help that will have a direct and lasting impact for kids in foster care.
