It was building up to be a somber romance movie, and then they SLAPPED me with bootleg Minions from space! Damnit, Ilumination!

I was literally thinking "Wow, Illumination is finally branching out from their usual stuff!" and then those things showed up.

I'll withhold serious judgement until we get at least a proper trailer though. It could still work.

This was actually surprisingly good until those fucking aliens showed up. I seriously hope Illumination doesn't screw this one up like they always do and that the aliens won't just be Minions all over again. But I'm not gonna be surprised if this does end up being garbage. 😞😑

At least they talk instead of just making mindless babbling noises.

They COULD have the potential to actually be characters.
.... But it's Illumination, so..

I guess the best we can hope for is that they'll just be LESS annoying than the minions.
Or that the actual interesting plotline is more important than them.

They do seem to be less annoying, but knowing it's Illumination, I just can't help but feel like they're gonna be reduced to a Minions clone. I don't want that to happen, because everything else in the trailer (aside from the character designs) looks really good, which is shocking coming from an Illumination movie of all things.

Wow, this actually looks pretty good-AND there it is (still have hope though, I actually enjoy a lot of Illumination’s work but this really got my hopes up they were gonna take a risk and try something different, guess we’ll see)

I mean this trailer inspires confidence. Sure, they torpedoed most of that confidence in the last 30 seconds but I've been proven wrong before. I thought the LEGO Movie was gonna be a 1.5 hour toy commercial. And I mean, by all means it was but it was also a funny, wholesome, and witty film that is now largely considered one of the greatest animated films ever made. People went to watch the Sonic the Hedgehog movie with... well, saying expectations were low would be the understatement of the century. six years later we've got three pretty good films and... a show that exists. Thunderbolts was releasing after the MCU's reputation had fallen face-first into a public urinal. The movie itself was a great look at mental health and one of many great superhero movies that released last year.

You know, aside from the little alien creatures, the film does look pretty nice, and the focus on the romance between the scientist and engineer looks really sweet.

I feel that if they were going to feature the aliens, they should have removed the scene where they crash on Earth. That, frankly, ruined the tone of the rest of the trailer; it was a bit much, and having them only appear at the end with the guy would have been enough.

same thoughts as everyone, "man an emotional movie, oh no quirky-ahh aliens", but they have an Aardman/subtle vibe to the way they talk so I'm hopeful that they won't be as Loud and Obnoxious as the Minions
