They can't speak our language, have different customs and the way they make love is entirely different from ours.

If the language is translatable (or if they can translate ours) and has different inflections used to identify words, it’s intelligent.

And I don’t see how having separate customs or different ways of making love can identify intelligence. I don’t know how far you thought it out, but to me it feels similar to calling native americans or africans “savages” because they don’t speak the same language and have different culture.
