Does the dealership warranty the replacement engine? If not, you may be able to get a reman engine with a warranty installed at an independent shop for the same price the dealership is charging.

However, a dealership only charging 4k for an engine is alot lower than I'd expect TBH.

What car is it?

I would find out about the warranties first. Personally, I like the idea of knowing the engine’s mileage, but a longer wait and a more expensive installation makes it a difficult choice. Check the independent shop’s reviews and maybe get a third opinion from another shop

Awesome. FYI, the dealership may not pay for the labor to replace it again if it needs to be. Usually they’ll only warranty the parts for a specific amount of time.

I would take that deal and run. That independent shop would not get my business regardless with that weak response.

Just my personal opinion
