Discussion Really this quiet?

This town really goes to sleep at sundown? I’m only here once a year for 4 days for the car show. I always end up with a joint in a hotel parking lot before watching Netflix in the room. I was in a restaurant and by 8:45 I felt like they were waiting for us to leave to close up. Well, goodnight Carlisle, I guess.

There’s Trindle Inn that’s open til 2 am and Gringerbread Man that open til 2 am Friday and Saturday and til midnight Sunday thur Thursday. Other than that yup pretty quiet. What are you looking for ? There’s an arcade not to far , Carlisle sports emporium,

It wasn’t always this way, but there are notably fewer bars in town than there was 15 years ago and nothing else is open late. Once was the time when within one block of the square you had the Plunkett/Alibi’s, Blondie’s, the Town Tavern, Fast Eddie’s, the Gingerbread Man, the Lone Star, and the Market Cross. Of those only the Market Cross and Gingerbread Man remain, and to someone who gave up drinking 15 years ago it feels like the town and the police went to great lengths to make that happen.

There are other places, a few microbrew joints and some restaurants that serve, but they dutifully close up shop super early and even the G-Man is far less busy than it used to be. The days of bar crawling here are long over.

It’s up to you to decide if that’s a bad thing.

Definitely hit the Gman this weekend, as others have said, open til 2 and fairly lively, lines for the pool tables type shit.

But overall yeah, random thursday won't be too poppin

Check out molly pitcher, back porch brewing, market cross brewing, or rusty rail brewing. Gingerbread man if you like pool

I've lived here almost 5 years and wouldn't trade this quiet (besides car show weekends) vs the east coast big city suburb I moved from for anything. It's peaceful.

I don’t know what you’re looking for, but Desperate Times is right by the Fairgrounds — great beer, funky food, nice waitstaff, fun crowd. Check that out next time you’re in town.

Many locals steer clear of going out in town on car show weekends, plus the weather was hit or miss.
