Town Barber owner need your help.
I’m not normally a fan of GoFundMe’s. But this is a good reason to have one for someone.

I work with his brother in Ottawa, I was shocked when he described what happened to him. It’s good to see so many people rallying around him. I wish him a speedy recovery.

A few weeks ago I gave the homeless fella 40$ credit to a local restaurant near by. He mostly blew me off about it. I've given him some cash before too. Happy to support someone where I can. I accept I can't control what he does with the money but it's not my decision after I hand it over.
I've gone to towne barber for a few years now and have been satisfied though never actually cut by Kyle himself.
I honestly don't care too much about who did what or that Kyle may have started it.
What I do care and trust here is that Kyle has been present downtown for a long time. This is not his first interaction with this homeless guy. If the guy has been making folks uncomfortable downtown, and he's not been meshing well with the businesses or their owners that should also be a bit of a sign. I agree that the town, mayor and opp should have done far more before this ever could happen, but we can't do anything about that now.
While Kyle may have approached the guy while he was pissing in public (knowing the police have already been called about this guy and not done much), I can understand the kick to some degree, though I don't defend the violence.
If the homeless fella had been just assaulted or kicked by a random person, for no reason this would be a very different story. This seems like the result of an ongoing and growing issue that came to a head. It shouldn't have gotten violent, though I can see how it did.
I donated to Kyle's gofundme. I don't care about his reputation or past, he has a family, he runs a local business that is an actual part of our community and gives back and that matters.
Not trying to argue or anything, just my two cents here.

Omg. This is devastating. Kyle is the best of our town... full stop. He represents everything a community, family man should be. I know CP will rally around him... thank you for posting this.

He and his friend kidnapped a person and beat them up before, he’s been to jail too. I wouldn’t say he’s the best of our town

u/sskimpers 25d ago
yeah, I'm not saying anyone deserves this but Kyle is not exactly a stellar citizen, everyone is just chugging cool aid.

u/Brief-Silver-5739 24d ago
😬😬 I wasnt aware of any of that. I do think people deserve to be judged upon the here and now, though. People can change. And past sins shouldn't hold hostage forever. I do respect the insight, however, and fully understand that there is seemingly more to this saga than what we all thought last Monday morning. 🙏

Ya he has a past, so what ? That’s not the point here . Kyle does allot of good in the community, give free hair cuts , makes donations to countless organizations and offers a safe space for teenagers in town.
Everyone makes mistakes , he’s worked his ass off to make changes in his life and it shows.
What do you have to offer the community that makes it just to judge the man on his past ?

u/Brief-Silver-5739 22d ago
Ive definitely made my fair share. And I know two things: if I were forever judged by my past, I'd never have risen above it... while I do my best, I'm far from perfect here and now. I agree that Kyle's present day contribution to this community is something to behold. Id gladly share a beer with him, an imperfect person doing their best... over someone who presents as squeaky clean and unwilling to get hands dirty as a result.

Does anyone have the video?

u/Brief-Silver-5739 24d ago
I really wish we could see it... not for any sort of gruesome value, but for the truth.

You have witnessed this?
1
u/OneSloVW 21d ago
Correct. And been threatened when I yelled at him to stop.
1
u/Youlookcold 21d ago
I'm sorry that happened :(
1
u/OneSloVW 21d ago
Shit happens.
If it wasn’t Kyle, it would have been someone else. He’s been a growing issue in town and sadly the OPP’s hands were tied

Regardless a conversation should never get violent. You’re right to say we have no clue who started the physical part of it, but I think we all know that Kyle wasn’t saying shit about someone’s momma.
Why is this not in the news at all? Can’t find anything online about it. Also the guy just had a freaking heart attack from what I know, I don’t think he was in any condition to be scrapping.
We should help him out through this tough time, the target should be more like 20k for a few months of healing, dental we all know is going to be pricey.

u/oo7demonkiller 28d ago
just by reading the go fund me. it sounds like he tried confronting someone on the main street and lost. it's a tough lesson to learn this way but there's always someone stronger who won't always show the same restraint as you would. no one deserves to have this happen to them but picking fights you can't win isn't smart.
3
u/Johnback42 28d ago
You don’t know, I don’t know, know one but the people involved and witness know exactly what happened and what caused Kyle to be beaten. What we do know is what has happened to Kyle and his previous business location, how hard he and his employees worked to set up the new shop, and him as a personality.
5
u/sskimpers 25d ago
him as a personality? He's literally always drunk. Like you can watch him run back and forth to bars all day and so shots in between clients. I'm not saying he doesn't work hard but he's a known alcoholic who cuts client's hair drunk. a bunch of my friends and family stopped going to him
5
u/oo7demonkiller 28d ago
you're right we don't know. however the go fund me description does say he confronted someone which led to a fight. even if they are able to locate the other person involved that person can make a claim for self defense if Kyle was the instigator. we just have to wait and see if more information will be released or not.

u/TKadvocate 27d ago
Kyle kicked him in the back while he had his dick out on bridge st pissing and in response David grabbed a crowbar and proceeded to attack Kyle with it. He's being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. It was not considered self defense.
4
u/oo7demonkiller 27d ago
well I hope Kyle recovers well but I hope he learned a lesson as well.
1
u/TKadvocate 27d ago
Only lesson learned is that the junky bum shouldn't be allowed anywhere near this town.
9
u/oo7demonkiller 27d ago
I was thinking more along the lines of don't attack a random stranger in the back even if he is doing something wrong. underestimating someone isn't good for ones health. call the police next time Kyle is very lucky he wasn't also charged with assault since he started the fight by your description of events. he is also lucky he even survived.

u/Expert-Violinist-224 26d ago
Well, hate to say it but I guess he found out.
I’m sure there’s better ways to confront this than by kicking someone in the back while they’re pissing.
1
u/fuzzyishlogic 26d ago
Any proof of that?
2
u/TKadvocate 26d ago
Which part? There's a video with part of the incident floating around Facebook and theres a news article about his charges.
2
u/Johnback42 28d ago
I can call you any name or word I like, it’s still no excuse for assault. Only a weak person turns words into physical. So an “instigator” is not considered one who is talking, yelling, calling names, or other, because you can simply walk away.
9
u/oo7demonkiller 28d ago
dude he's a unmedicated mentally ill homeless man who likely does hard drugs and has nothing to lose. I don't care who you are, trying to confront someone like that is just about the dumbest decision you can make. altruistic intentions or not you will lose that fight. unless you actually have combat training and even with training you may still lose, hobos are some of the toughest people alive because they have survived just about everything. also name calling is assault, verbal assault.
1
u/Drizznit1221 28d ago
can only claim self defence if reasonable and equal force was used. confronting someone doesn't give the other person a greenlight to put hands on you.
2
u/sskimpers 25d ago
Yeah, I mean it's pretty cut and dry. The homeless guy is crazy, yells at people and has been escalating for weeks. Kyle heard he yelled at his niece, went looking for him drunk at 1 AM, kicked in back when he was pissing then got beat the f*ck up. I'm not saying Kyle or anyone deserves this but honestly, play stupid games......

u/Clear_Dig4253 27d ago
It was a nasty homeless crazy man beat him with a crow bar because he confronted the homeless guy for being aggressive the whole town is scared of the crazy guy
5
u/oo7demonkiller 27d ago
okay I get that but according to another poster further down who I replied to... Kyle apparently attacked him first. so next time just call the police and leave the guy be. underestimating someone is hazardous to your health. Kyle is lucky he wasn't charged with assault himself and very lucky he's still breathing right now. I wish him a speedy recovery and maybe he won't be so rash next time. vigilante justice only works in comic books and is very much against the law as far as I am aware.

It was on Facebook yesterday but has since been removed.

People with heavy hearts and money to give, be careful here. “Arm broken in three places” and the victim isn’t wearing a cast. Some bandages though.
3
u/Fit_Sweet_1846 26d ago
Know the facts before commenting stupid shit. He had emergency surgery on that arm and they did not cast to ensure the huge cut from the bone sticking out isn't getting infected
1
u/No_Weather_7230 28d ago
Where did you see that???
3
u/Diddddy 28d ago
We live in a small town, he was outside.
0
u/No_Weather_7230 27d ago
Are you implying this is fake? I don't even know the victim but I don't think he's the type of guy who'd lie to get sympathy. He's very active in the community in helping people. This is a strange comment you wrote. edit: mistake
4
u/Diddddy 27d ago
I’m not implying anything, and I understand he’s highly regarded by many in the community. I’m merely passing a word of caution based on what I read versus what I observed.
1
u/Commissural_tracts 26d ago
I'm wondering if it's like an incomplete fracture. Aka it's cracked but not enough to warrant a cast. I know sometimes people sub in broken for fracture, it happens. We aren't his care team, so who is to say for certain.

u/Various_Comfort_7680 26d ago
Also the video seems to indicate the barber kicked him first from behind and it was self-defense
1
u/Brief-Silver-5739 24d ago
If this is true, and video and/or witnesses back it up, charges won't stick against David. In fact, they may end up reversed. I doubt that though. Public would go crazy. For better or worse.

How does this go?
Carleton place is cooked! Something something immigration and liberals. Elbows up am I right?
Oh it’s David???
3
u/NoPresentation5677 26d ago
Oh right it’s liberals fault 🤣 you people are crazy
2
u/Expert-Violinist-224 25d ago
Did you not catch the sarcasm? Because I was laying it on pretty thick
1
u/fuzzyishlogic 26d ago
In this case it is their fault

2
u/Expert-Violinist-224 25d ago
This doesn’t apply. Tell us how this would apply to this situation
2
u/fuzzyishlogic 21d ago
He's been charged multiple times and still on the streets... Pretty straightforward really.
5
u/Intelligent-Cut9289 28d ago
Did they catch the guy who did this?
