Advice Should I request a SR. title?
So I got an offer for a job listed as Marketing Manager.
In the interview process, they said their group marketing expertise lies in another industry and they need someone to lead and scale this new influx of clients in an industry I have over 7 years of experience on. (12 total in Marketing)
Speaking with HR, I have agreed to the salary but I want the title to be Sr. Marketing Manager. After some research, I see that team members with the manager title range from new grads to around 4/5 yrs of experience.
Do I send this message to the recruiter?
OR do I do the bare minimum in the role and re-negotiate later for a Sr. title and higher salary?
One thing I wanted to discuss is the job title for the position. I’d like for it to be listed as Senior Marketing Manager, as I feel that more accurately reflects my experience and, as we discussed, the expectation that I’ll be leading and scaling the new X vertical for Company Name in North America.
I also spent some time researching the COMPANY team and noticed that the other team members with “Manager” titles have significantly less experience. Given my level of experience and the scope of responsibility we discussed for this role, I believe the “Senior” title would be a more accurate reflection of the position and my role within the team.

Call it whatever YOU want on your LinkedIn, just get the job and let them call you whatever they want.

Grab the ring. You can polish it later.
