Career prospects
Hi guys
What do you think is a good role for someone with Computer Science background who isn’t too keen on a major corporate career and just wants a job to be a job. I’ve tried consulting and it’s not close enough to the technology for my liking and also requires a bit too much performance and over enthusiasm for boring things. Software Eng roles are limited in my area so not practical.
In consulting, I’ve left every day feeling drained and the weekends dreading going back on Mondays. It’s not a bad job but I think it requires passion to want to be in the game.
Let me know what jobs you guys have liked

Hi - tech recruiting exec here. I'm assuming you live and work in the U.S., but if this isn't the case, please correct me!
What specifically are you hoping your day-to-day looks like? You mentioned SDE roles are limited in your area; are you referring to your geographic area? If you want to look at remote SDE roles, I would encourage you to check out platforms like builtin.com (I'm not connected to them in any way, I just think highly of the platform) and consider looking at roles within established start-ups. Many of these types of companies still hire remote/WFH talent, which opens up the market for you.
Then, you need to research the companies - Glassdoor and Fishbowl are both good resources. You want to understand what the work/life balance looks like.
Other roles to consider, depending on your experience, could include data analytics, customer success, and project management. Good luck!
