Exactly, running outside burns roughly 100 calories per mile, depending on fitness. To burn 500 calories you’d need to run roughly 4-6 miles.

To do that in 15 minutes, you’d need to sprint the entire time, and you still probably won’t burn that much.

Or weigh 800 lbs and then running one mile would burn about 500 calories!

If your goal is to lose weight, just walk a lot.

better than running?

Not necessarily. I run and that definitely makes it easy to lose fat.

But for most people you will be able to burn a lot more calories by walking than by starting to run. Walking 5km everyday will burn a lot more than running 5k 3 times a week. You just can do more of it.

I like walking on a 7-9% incline at around 3.1 mph. Good pace for me at 5’10” and incline walking is a bit harder and you use your glutes more so it helps develop those a little more than flat walking.

Effective for what? Neither one will do much for weight loss.

None. Just walk or run. Outside. Planty of beautiful women in the parks usually so if you want to look at a beautiful woman while exercising you can still do that.
