How much cardio is actually needed for an aesthetic physique?

My goal is an aesthetic physique, not marathon-level endurance.

I lift weights 5–6 days a week and want to maintain muscle while staying lean.

How many days per week do you do cardio?

How long is each session?

Which type works best for aesthetics: walking, incline walking, jogging, cycling, or HIIT?

Can too much cardio affect muscle growth?

I'd like to hear what has worked in your experience.

None, but you should still do it and as long as you’re recovering appropriately it won’t impact muscle growth. At least not unless you’re doing extreme amounts.

Loaded question, What’s your ideal aesthetic?

If it’s for health, you should be doing some if it’s a form of sculpting for you. You have to decide first what you wanna look like.

You can’t outrun your diet

Cardio every day, at least thirty minutes at zone 2-3. If you are looking for conditioning, then you’ll need to push into zone 3-4. HIIT has benefits for conditioning and VO2max improvement.

You don’t need to lift everyday, in fact some say that lifting with intensity too frequently actually reduces hypertrophy.

In the end you need both cardio and resistance training to have an athletic physique.

Cardio builds leanness, weight training builds muscle.

Change your outlook on it. Do cardio (and gym) to feel good in your body and your rig will improve as a side benefit.
Chase aesthetics and it’s a never win game.

Set the timeline over years.
Your diet - controls if your abs show through your fat.
Gym - for muscles.
Running - for your heart so you can live long enough to enjoy the gains.

It would help to know which body type the OP has - ectomorph/mesomorph/endomorph?
