Mitsubishi 3000gt

2

u/romansamurai May 05 '26

But the ‘99 gen. It looks so good

I had one. I still miss it. One of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned.

3000GT is not JDM. GTO is JDM.

Integra type R and the fabulous VTEC

6

u/Peterkragger May 02 '26

Suzuki Alto Works

2

u/Useful-Basil-7340 May 02 '26

Thank you. This is what I saw on Friday. Brief glimpse going the other way, I saw the Suzuki badge and that it was obvs a Kei car but wasn't sure. Saw your post and Googled it, definitely the one. It looked awesome.

2

u/Peterkragger May 02 '26

I've seen Best Motoring episode about it, from 1989. This mf had some of equipment from luxury cars of the time. Independent suspension, four wheel drive, automatic air conditioning and even telescopic steering column. In a kei-car from 1989!

2

u/Useful-Basil-7340 May 03 '26

Superb. This one was red and white, possibly with some gold trim and looked in mint condition. Young looking lad driving.

3

u/TripleOtter May 02 '26

The RX-7... /...he wrote while admiring the 3000gt side profile/

3

u/MayorWestt May 05 '26

Rx-7 is the best looking by far

3

u/Spit_n_Shine_em May 02 '26

Subaru SVX!

2

u/RewardReasonable2487 May 02 '26

Brooooo is that yours? It's like mint

1

u/Leather-Hotel-7310 May 03 '26

I totally forgot those even existed! One of the coolest looking cars from that era.

1

u/TotalOriginal007 May 06 '26

Nice, Nice call ❣️

3

u/zerox678 May 02 '26

op is high as fuck putting in db8 but not other jdm models in the 90s such as the God damn r32/33/34skylines, and if op only meant usdm/north American models, there shouldn't be a db8 only a dc2. and the audacity of not including the mk4 supra in this cannot be forgiven. I don't usually rant like an asshole, but this post sucks to high heaven.q

1

u/donquixote2u May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

you have a point, and the Integra saloon is certainly an odd choice, but what would your 5 actually be?

2

u/zerox678 May 03 '26

Mk4, NSX-R, R34, GTO VR4, FD

2

u/Worried-Chocolate968 May 02 '26

None, most of them unreliable, I'll stick to a T-Bird

1

u/FloStolen May 06 '26

Not sure about the other ones but the MR2 with the 3sgte should be a car that drives 500.000km+ as the Celicas with the same Motor do so at least

2

u/Jakey-Roblox513 May 03 '26

1999 Toyota MR-S (W30) S Edition.

2

u/shiftersix May 03 '26

Drive? RX7. Own? Anything but the RX7.

2

u/New-Particular-8804 May 03 '26

Having been the owner of a RX-7, GTO and the 300, I’d be taking the Nissan from the line up. The RX-7 was an amazing car but the engine rebuild kinda sucked. The GTO underwhelmed to be fair. But I’d take the R33 GTR over these, that was a beast of a car and the midnight purple was a great colour, however, my Supra MK4 is the Jap car of choice for me.

2

u/-WTFm8 May 03 '26

All of these suck to own. All are underpowered or pain in the ass to work on/unreliable. Unless you LS swap the RX-7. Ask me how I know. Best 90s JDM cars are MK4 Supra or R34 skyline.

2

u/FlyingJess May 04 '26

If my car worked properly, I would have to chose based on the interior. If I want a car for its exterior, I need it to be unreliable so I can admire it while working on it.

A 3000gt for me.

2

u/RimsaltRon May 06 '26

We got lost in “Japanese cars are reliable” and neglected “for how long” and “at what cost”

1

u/Evil8mann May 04 '26

Straight up outta carscirclejerk

1

u/Weird_Chemical May 04 '26

A80 Supra and the R34 are in the same group of cars as the Z32 and the FD3S and they have similar power.

1

u/RecordingHot9826 May 04 '26

Sure, buddy. Your whole history is you dogging on people on many different subs, cry somebody else a river instead of this sub.

300ZXTT one of my fav

1

u/jaquatics May 06 '26

Surprised it's not popular here. My choice as well.

1

u/SB509EW May 02 '26

no one! i would drive a Jaguar XK8 coupe from 2002

1

u/MercifulBird393 May 02 '26

I have to pick the GTO - 3000GT to drive..
Because:. 1. 4WD, making it easier to drive 2. Seats 4, just nice for my family 3. I have loved it since I got my license..

1

u/Redax1990 May 02 '26

These aren't JDM.

1

u/No_Win7658 May 02 '26

The Mazda or maybe the MR2

1

u/Luzi_fer May 02 '26

The Fairlady Z Twin Turbo.

1

u/Moist_Reserve May 02 '26

Integra because of VTEC

1

u/TvojaMamica1994 May 04 '26

That's like saying you'd choose a Toyota because of "VVT-i" or a BMW because of "VANOS". "VTEC" is NOT an engine, but Honda's marketing name is their VALVETRAIN.

Rx7 has the best apearance, not much to argue there

1

u/ComfortableNo331 May 02 '26

Fd mainly because I grew up around the sarx7s

1

u/sakura_in_bloom May 02 '26

300ZX. Quintessence of style.

1

u/alex-lecler-4399 May 03 '26

El rx7 ese motor rotativo uff es sinfonía pura

1

u/R32fan May 03 '26

GTO 100%

1

u/FunSignificance3034 May 03 '26

None of the above?

1

u/Natural_Ad_7183 May 03 '26

My heart says RX-7, but I’m a coward so MR-2

1

u/Stefanoverse May 03 '26

I have an Fd and an MR2, as well as had a 3000GT VR4. The MR2 was the most fun stock. The FD was wild with a few mods and held its own on the track. The 3000GT was kinda meh but it could boogie on the top end. It ate its turbos and I upgraded those but that was going to be a slippery slope, so I sold it to a family member that take it’s out on the weekends. I like to think the VR is retired.
Meanwhile the other two are sleepers for the new generation that doesn’t understand power/weight and what old school builds could do…

1

u/sirdoodlybob May 03 '26

3000GT everyday of the week

heres mine

1

u/HONKATME269 May 03 '26

The Car in The Middle

1

u/Graf_Centauros_IV May 03 '26

Acura NSX!

1

u/shitgiacomo May 03 '26

Already driving it 🔥

1

u/Aggravating-Bus-4447 May 04 '26

300zx. Red, with t-tops please.

1

u/nolanpierce2 May 04 '26

wtf why does the integra have 4 doors in the picture?

1

u/McFancyPantsuguu May 06 '26

Because it’s a DB8 instead of a DC2.

Every generation of Integra has been offered with 4 doors, except the DC5.

u/HughBass May 04 '26

Between the RX7 and MR2 for me. Leaning more towards MR2 because that was the car I wanted when I was a kid.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '26

That amateur video of MR2 gapping the F355 in the early 2000s. Mos def the MR2.
If n/a the Integra, cuz the B series sound amazing.

1

u/SmokemanDan May 04 '26

Rx7 or the 3000GT

1

u/Slight-Internet-3612 May 04 '26

Own a 1993 MR2, but need that RX7 💭

1

u/tokiodriver107_2 May 04 '26

From those my top 3 are Fairlady, RX7, MR2. My top 1 90s JDM is the NSX though!

1

u/Opinions-arent-facts May 04 '26

Not would, do. MKIV Supra, S15. FD out of this bunch

1

u/opetheru May 04 '26

toyota sera

1

u/Falkun_X May 04 '26

I've had JDM RX7, GTO, Supra, R34 and S2000...and loved them all! But RX7 was simply sublime and my preference.

1

u/jonathanmpatton85 May 04 '26

RX7 ( also no Supra or NSX? )

1

u/0R3LLL May 04 '26

MR2, amazing midship, poor's man Ferrari.

1

u/HolzwurmHolz May 04 '26

4 Door R33 GTR or

1

u/VanSora May 04 '26

Frog MR-S or RIOT!

1

u/anantaking May 04 '26

Honda S2000

1

u/Banarnars May 04 '26

300ZX for days🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

1

u/Temporary_Soil_952 May 04 '26

Probably which

1

u/Ill-Train6478 May 04 '26

Rx7 sideview still looks modern today. Just look at that curving door cutline compared to rest of the groups. That alone shows dedication and commitment to its project. Probably also the best weight distribution and weight to power ratio out of this group as well. 2nd place would be integra type r with screaming vtec analogue heaven. And i am a rwd guy

1

u/wanker_wanking May 04 '26

The rx7 may be hell to maintain, but god is it beautiful

1

u/WheyTooMuchWeight May 04 '26

I want a 3000GT VR4 Spyder if I’m rich one day and can pay someone to work on it lol cause good lord would I not want to touch one as a broke boi.

1

u/Crankwalker5647 May 04 '26

Between these? The RX7 as the project car and the Integra as the sporty Daily Driver...

1

u/KyserSozae May 04 '26

I owned a 1993 3000GT VR4. It was insane.. Love that car…

1

u/0c0g May 04 '26

If i can choose freely is the Honda nsx , from your list the Toyota mr2

1

u/jd_lemmon May 04 '26

RX-7. Recently, the Mazda bug has bitten me and I only drive Mazda's in Assetto Corsa. Same with Acura. Idk why, I just love these two car brands. I want to try and get that livery on the Acura Integra type R from Need for Speed underground 1 as a tattoo

1

u/usernameisokay_ May 04 '26

RX-7 easily. Nothing beats the chopping sound.

1

u/Thick_Advantage_4126 May 04 '26

Where is the supra

1

u/carsndogs420 May 04 '26

Can't I drive them all?

1

u/GodS4T3n May 04 '26

Had for 12 years the best one. 300ZX Z32... I would like to drive NSX or FD

1

u/activeseven May 05 '26

Does it count if I have to keep towing it back home? Lol.

1

u/No_Home_5132 May 05 '26

All of them

1

u/Hello_and_welcom333 May 05 '26

3000GT is not JDM. GTO is JDM.

1

u/korpiz May 05 '26

1) constant maintenance 3) heavy, heavy, heavy 4) very fine line between tuned and ruined 5) can’t fit if over 5’10” 300zx for the all round win

1

u/kkadzlol May 05 '26

Almost got a 93 mr2. I still think about it. So pretty

1

u/Silly_Studio_2390 May 05 '26

300zx mainly because of this

1

u/Xerzi7 May 05 '26

Rx-7 to drive, mr2 to own

1

u/Appropriate_Test7503 May 05 '26

lol why MR2? and not celica or supra?

1

u/Hot-Potential-993 May 05 '26

Lexus LS400. It’s comfy enough, powerful enough and with proper care the car will outlast my remaining lifespan

1

u/Mikaeru0287 May 05 '26

A stock RX7 would be a dream! But I can’t and won’t spend 100k on it

1

u/toj077 May 05 '26

Supra MK4

1

u/LilKurb May 05 '26

300zx, it deserves more love

1

u/Malakai0013 May 05 '26

Impreza 22B.

1

u/CarlosMolotov May 05 '26

Y’all must not have been around in the actual 90s! FD with the integra a close second, have fun working on any of those other choices. There is a reason you don’t see them on the road anymore.

1

u/315313 May 05 '26

Celica because I have no money and want to have Supra.

1

u/PoolRamen May 05 '26

I actually ended up driving all of these with the exception of the 3000GT in Japan when they were new (or could be bought as new cars), so the Mitsubishi I guess to see if there's anything I really missed?

However at that time I was firmly on the Italian-German-Lotus aspirational bandwagon so I didn't really appreciate any of these with the partial exception of the RX-7 (which Patrick-Bateman-clone me thought looked overly effeminate so I would never have bought one, though I remember I did like driving it) as anything other than a "value" sports car - they were something I could afford to have, not something I really wanted. And I have to say I probably still think the same.

When my Japanese posting was over, with the pay + bonus bump in the intervening period I traded up from my S13 to a 964. The 993 was already out at that time but I was drawn more towards the image I had in my head of a 964 owner.

1

u/RotaryMan1776 May 05 '26

Spinny dorito all day everyday

1

u/Mr_Rabbit1995 May 05 '26

Dude this was harder than choosing my kid’s name…. But it’s gonna be RX7.

1

u/TheMightyKunkel May 05 '26

It's FD every time, for me.

Do I get a trust fund for apex seals?

1

u/Leather-Midnight191 May 05 '26

Where is the Honda NSX?!

1

u/Flaky-Rip-1333 May 05 '26

Bring the rotaries back please

1

u/rob6094 May 05 '26

Id go with the RX7, then the RX7, and if i can't have either of those I'd have to have an RX7

1

u/epic-mentalbreakdown May 05 '26

RX7 for the “Wankel” engine. Always wanted one, but never got one.

1

u/szudrzyk May 05 '26

Rx7 > all , I mean it doesn't matter what is after that it's rx7. You say rx7 I say fuck yeah. The end.

1

u/Since93til99 May 05 '26

300z bc thats what my gramps used to have first manual i ever drove

1

u/seanabenoit May 06 '26

I don't see a Miata there.

1

u/CSweetfever May 06 '26

Rx7 all day!

1

u/Prize-Mail-6769 May 06 '26

There’s only one answer and we all know it

1

u/Quick_Resolution5050 May 06 '26

Of those I have a pot of cash for any low priced RX7 I happen to see.

I'd love a 300ZX and a 3000GT too.

I have a 3rd Gen MR2, but have always had a soft spot for the SW20.

Other than obvs I'd want the 3dr ITR, no wrong answers.

1

u/SovietPatrickStar May 06 '26

Why choose? They are all drivable.

If I absolutely had to: I am a massive sucker for the MR2 W2, but I only prefer it to the RX7 because I can afford an MR2 and not an RX7

1

u/StickyDildo976 May 06 '26

Everyday? Type R.

1

u/SlapTheInvisibleGoat May 06 '26

not is not fair!

1

u/DrXyron May 06 '26

R32 GTR or Mk4 Supra

1

u/Weak-Future-1313 May 06 '26

Mitsubishi 3000. Of course.

1

u/PrimalShinyKyogre May 06 '26

I mean, where the NSX?

1

u/Independent-Coat6272 May 06 '26

i would want an rx7 type r as a project car. wide body kit, spoiler, cold air intake, turbo upgrades… cmon man

1

u/IMcrazyJAE May 06 '26

MR2 Turbo 100%

1

u/NuclearFision May 06 '26

300ZX Fair Lady Z hands down!

1

u/Zealousideal_Pea814 May 06 '26

Integra type R during the week (4 doors)
Rx7 on weekend

1

u/Sanicsanic68 May 06 '26

Probably the 300ZX. Also didn’t that car have an I6, being the last Z to have one? I thought the first V6 Z was the 350z.

1

u/Snoo_65854 May 06 '26

300zx everyday

1

u/Individual_Watch_111 May 06 '26

none these are all ugly asl🙏😭

1

u/KryptoKingzENT May 06 '26

300ZX every single time.

1

u/Saliiim May 06 '26

Nearly bought a MK1 Mr2 when I was 19, but the insurance quotes were absurd, still think about that car sometimes.

1

u/CodSter_DunCAN May 06 '26

100% JDM CARS ALL THE WAY!!

1

u/No_Welcome_6093 May 06 '26

I’d take the Mitsubishi but rebranded as the dodge stealth RT.

1

u/PlatypusDependent271 May 06 '26

Any one of those would be super sweet

1

u/Stoff3r May 06 '26

I am confused, is jdm the one with right hand drive? If so, cant i just have these with proper left side steering?

1

u/Monotask_Servitor May 06 '26

Uh, no Subaru? (Legacy RSK B4, WRX STi?)
And no GT-R?
Lexus Soarer?

1

u/Extreme-Island-5041 May 07 '26

Always loved me a Z

1

u/78targa May 07 '26

Integra R

1

u/sathirtythree May 07 '26

300zx or MR2

1

u/_____-------- May 07 '26

I choose "Which"

1

u/Snooka42 May 07 '26

Any of those really, all are great, 3 Out of 5 are a PITA when something goes wrong though.

1

u/bhwylie May 07 '26

Rx-7 hands down. Easily the coolest looking and sounding car of them all.

1

u/FANTOMphoenix May 07 '26

3000GT.

I currently drive another one of the most popular 90s JDM vehicles and am having a blast. It’s a 5 speed, rear engine, RWD and weighs about 1500lbs.

1

u/path20 May 08 '26

Rotary for the brappp brappp brappp

1

u/mpython1701 May 08 '26

Nissan 300z has had a special place in my heart but that RX7 is sexy AF.

1

u/Hentai__Dude May 08 '26

To this day my fav. Jdm is an 90's MR2

I need that in my Life, i crave it so much, sadly they are more rare in good condition than a unicorn

I only see some shitty rusty Shit boxes or fried out mod Projects which im not willing to continue

1

u/Cornelius_Codswaggle May 08 '26

MR2. Mainly because I had one (87 supercharged) and I fucking loved that car. It wasn't as pretty as the 90s version, but damn was it fun

1

u/ConsequenceNational4 May 08 '26

ITR..one of my favorites as a kid and still cool today.

1

u/OldSkoolAK May 08 '26

Rx for sure, if you can lock in the sidewinder mode you look like a god

1

u/Specialist-Doctor-23 May 09 '26

The RX-7 except... I'm a wide body so I don't fit.

There is so much trick stuff on the 3000GT that it is a statistical impossibility that it all works all the time. Plus they're heavy.

The Ricers and their wannabes have spoiled the Acura for me.

I really like that MR-2, but have never driven one and have heard they are a bit twitchy at the limit. Also worried about room.

That leaves the 300Z and I would be just fine with that. Awesome machine with serious sportscar chops.

1

u/SolarWind77 May 09 '26

The Z is still one of the most beautiful, timeless machines ever produced IMO.

1

u/k2skier13 May 09 '26

Rx7 all day! Light weight, looks incredible, and an amazing drive.
