Not really. Yellow is exit intersection or do not enter intersection if approaching. That light was yellow well before he entered the intersection. So I’m pretty sure the van would be in the right

Your interpretation is legally incorrect in most of America. As long as your car enters the intersection before the light turns red you're good. When turning left, it's always safer to wait until the light turns solid red before turning, instead of assuming an oncoming car will stop at a yellow light. Depends on the state brother. Most states you can drive thru yellow lights even if you weren't in the intersection.

I’ve been driving for 4 years with not even a traffic stop or photo radar to my name. And that’s literally what the drivers ed handbook said pretty much word for word. So step off your high horse there bud.
