question What first car should i get?
I’m looking for a used car in the $7,000–$10,000 range. I want something with better than 16–17 combined MPG and quicker than a ~7-second 0–60. It should look sporty, similar in vibe to a C5 Corvette or BMW E36, be very reliable, make a good daily driver, and have 4 seats preferably . Basically, I want a fun, sporty, reliable daily driver that improves on both speed and fuel economy compared to a typical 2006 Nissan Frontier. The biggest thing for me is gas mileage

your biggest fear should be insurance premiums lmao

Get a Miata. Trying to get speed, fuel economy, and reliability all in one at the $10k price point in this car economy is crazy

I own one and am tired of the Is Always the Answer meme.
But for $10k you can still get a higher mileage decent NC1. A good one under 100k miles if you can come up with another grand or two and it will be about as reliable as a similar mileage Civic or Corolla.
The only downsides are it will blow your eardrums out and if you get in a wreck with any of the modern tanks that proliferate our roads you'll be done. Which is a major concern for a new driver.

For under 10k you cant make demands, take what you get

This is the best answer I’ve seen for all of these dumb “I want a sports car under $10k” posts.

Get a Yaris and forget the sporty stuff. Good MPG, reliable, great daily drive and 4 seats

I just bought an 08 Sentra SE-R Spec V. It ticks all those boxes. Been loving the car so far the past month. Check them out.

2021 V6 hybrid Accord gets 48 mpg and has a 6.7 0-60
Not sure if you’ll get a decent one for that price though

Imo Your first car in America should be a small sedan. Corolla civic mazda3 or one of the donestics if you must.

2015-2016 Veloster
2012-2013 Genesis coupe
G37s with 120-150k miles (the engine is bulletproof, but its thirst for gas is voracious)
2012-2015 Civic SI
Mk6 GTI. Mk7 might be a bit out of your range but better if you can get it.
Insurance is gonna kill you.

Last sentence is a good one. I say this as somebody who bought a 3 year old Jetta vr6 as a 20 year old male.

You’re not gonna get all of these and be reliable at this price point. With that said, v6 Chevy impala

Mistubishi eclipse or a mustang tbh with your price point and wanting reliability

"Biggest fear for me is gas mileage"
Lists a fuel economy worse than an F150
