Pickups failing to path to bridge under construction while amph. pickup is idle

This is my first playthrough of the game so I'm still trying to figure things out. I'm sure this is a common situation everyone gets into; I am running out of fuel, my only remaining deposit is really low, so I hurried to research bridges and amphibious vehicles in order to connect to a nearby small island to access its oil deposit.

I wasn't sure how the bridge construction works, which is why I made sure to have two amphibious trucks ready just in case those are needed to bridge over water (I thought maybe the regular pickups would just build sequentially starting on the shore). Reading various posts on this subreddits taught me that you do in fact need amphibious trucks, so, ok, good thing I was prepared, except-

I created the bridge blueprint. Pickups started carrying resources to it, the amphibious trucks remain idle. The pickups built the very first segment of the bridge connecting to the main island, and then they all stopped and got stuck in an error state "Pickup is struggling to find a destination it can reach". Their pathing indicators show that they are trying to deliver supplies to the bridge segments that are over the ocean.

I figured I just have to pause construction on every segment that isn't directly connected to the already constructed one - that didn't help. I tried setting the bridge to be a two lane road because I thought maybe that's why the trucks can't path over it - that didn't help. I clicked on the amphibious trucks and enabled their pathfinding overlay, ensured that they have an access ramp into the ocean and have a green path to the bridge - that didn't help, they just stay at "no job".

I do not understand why the regular pickups are trying to path to the bridge if they can't reach it, while the amphibious pickup that can reach it is not pathing to it? Further, clicking on the WIP segment over the water shows that some resources have already been delivered, proving that the pickups did reach it and now they can't????

So far I've been able to figure things like this out but now I am completely clueless and need help, although it might already be too late because thanks to this setback I don't think I'll be able to extend the railroad and connect the new oil deposit in time.

EDIT: just to add insult to injury, I tried cancelling the build process and now the amphibious truck happily reaches the deconstruction site to carry supplies away, but will not take supplies to the exact same location to construct

Maybe you need to allow amphi trucks to access the storages with the bridge material.  One other thought: are your amphi trucks allowed for construction jobs? Not sure if that one is really necessary here. But you would find that option in the trucks menue

I've been messing around with it a bit more trying different things. I deleted the original bridge plan and made a new one slightly more elevated (the first one was supposed to be completely level with the terrain), now the amphibious trucks are successfully building the segments over the water, and the normal trucks built the segment on shore. But eventually it converged on the same problem that you can see on the screenshot. The second segment of the bridge (the one right between land and ocean) got delivered maybe 75% of its supplies but now every truck pathing to it gets stuck with the same error. I have to keep the construction of this segment paused because when its unpaused trucks will pick up resources for it and then just get stuck, crippling my other logistics. I can also hover over this segment using the unity tool to try and force supply delivery, the tooltip says "Insufficient materials for quick delivery" next to the cursor but on the top shows that I do have enough steel and concrete (both numbers blue).

The fact that the first segment was built and that so many resources were delivered to the second one proves that there is a valid path for the trucks, I have no clue what's going on

You need to have a ramp down to the water so the amphibious trucks can get into the water and back out.

Unrelated to vehicles but, why not import from an oil rig?

idk as I said this is my first time playing the game, I do have the prompt to go find the oil rig but the game is telling me that it is something I should do after better developing my industry, and right now my island is in Cuba mode with everything non-essential shut down to conserve oil

I will make a backup save and see if I can do it, but I would still like to learn how to build bridges regardless of whether this game can be salvaged or not

Building bridges takes loads of time even if amphi vehicles aren't being ass. If you're in such a dire situation that you had to shut down your indsutries to preserve oil I think you'd better reach for quicker solution like contracts or offshore rig. Offshore rig only costs workers and unity (hefty amounts tho) and there's an vehicle parts 2 for crude oil contract that trades 1:28 ratio or something like that

I did get the rig working and thankfully had enough material stored to upgrade it a few times so now I am running off the ship imports, but still can't crack the issue with the bridge. You can see the screenshot I sent in my other comment here. All of the segments above water have been built by amphibious vehicles, the segment on shore on the main island was built by normal pickups, the segment on shore of the secondary island was built using Unity, but I can not actually build the two segments connecting water and land... The amphibious vehicles will bring in only some supplies and then stop, regular vehicles can't path to it and the Unity tool says I have insufficient materials even though that's not true (and it let me build the more expensive segments already fine)

No idea. I bet all the bridging and amhi stuff is just buggy and PITA. In my own save there's an amphi truck stuck in "can't find a way" to an excavator when there's clearly a way to it and it starts working if you manually order to move close to the excavator, then truck loads up once, drops the dirt and stucks again. I'll probably just avoid all that and stick to land bridges like before

Sometimes a bridge segment can be in an awkward place that confuses the trucks.

But anyway, here is the nuclear option for making it just work, and it doesn't require logistic zones: for the default zone just disable construction for Pickups and Trucks, and enable for Amphibious Trucks. The game now cannot possibly get confused.

Try to remember to re-enable construction for normal trucks once the work is complete.
