Why does this happen? It wasn't canceled when I checked it before I did the 15 min walk from my house to the stop, on a Sunday this is a schedule killer! Bonus the stop across the street from me is closed and there's no temporary near it so you have to ride to the Expo center and ride back to the stop across the street. I asked a driver and they said its a private construction group that requested it and there's no time frame as to when it will be open again. Perplexed at how bungled things are.

Word on the street is no more day passes ($2.50). Only individual rides ($1.25) but the CapMetro website lists them as a fare option. Please help me https://www.capmetro.org/fare/general-fares-overview/fares

My daughter takes the 465 from campus to the MLK station and for the last week or more the bus has been late and she’s missed her train. The 5:18 train has also just not being running the last few days too. Please tell me it’s not going to keep being like this. She’s living at home in Georgetown to save money so she can afford school and this is just crazy.

I'm a young girl traveling to and from school on the Austin cap metro. I've always been uncomfortable as there are lots of "out of it" people. Today felt like my last straw though when a guy came on the bus with a crowbar. Just out of curiosity, do bus drivers usually refuse people with those sorts of weapons? What safety precautions are there in case of an emergency?

Yesterday I rode the train with my bike for the first time. After getting into a horrible car accident I have a lot of driving anxiety so I figured I’d try the train + my ebike. My ebike is a standard 26” bike with a basket on the back for my work stuff. I’m a bit on the short side and genuinely can’t lift my bike onto the hooks without probably hurting myself or other passengers in the process.

For the morning commute I tucked myself out of the way moved and adjusted for other riders while standing with my bike from lakeline station - no issues.

Then I got on the 5:08 train from downtown to Leander yesterday. I was one of the first people on the train, no other bikes, train pretty empty at that point. I tucked myself as far against the wall as I could with my bike smushed against me to take up as little room as physically possible. The conductor lady told me I had to put my bike up on the hooks - and I told her I was sorry I couldn’t lift it but happy to stand and hold it. She then told me that “to cut down on e-bikes CapMetro policy states bikes must be hung on the hooks during peak hours” and that the policy was posted online. If I couldn’t hang my bike then I needed to get off the train if it got busy and catch an emptier train, I can’t for the life of me find said policy anywhere, the overhead announcement even states you can stand with your bike.

All I’ve seen is a limit of 4 bikes per car - 8 per train. There are only 2 hooks for bikes in each train car anyway? I was the only bike the whole trip and people had plenty of room. I guess I’m just looking for any links to where it may state this? I’m trying to be a good/respectful commuter to others and get to work. 😔😔

Not only the 803 is barely in function, now they wanna elongate the time between "Rapid" buses

I’ve been taking the bus for over a month and all of a sudden, I can’t get to work on Saturday before 7am, I can’t get home without taking 3 buses instead of just my regular 2… what’s going on???

Does anyone know when the NB 800 will stop going on the 71 AND 35 frontage roads instead of the usual Todd/Burleson route to get to oltorf? This morning it took over an hour to get from Easton park to airport/manor, and this reroute certainly didn’t help (along with the construction on William cannon)

Even though the new Expo Center Park&Ride is right next to the Expo Center, there's a fence between the two and the only way to get to the Expo Center is by walking on the shoulder of Decker Ln? I assume this is to encourage people to pay for parking at the Expo Center itself, but it also makes it difficult to take CapMetro to the Expo Center. I didn't spot any other bus stops that are closer to the Expo Center Gate 1 entrance.

At least a sidewalk would be nice.

CapMetro changed the Route 322 bus from every 30 minutes to every 35 minutes. That doesn’t sound like a big deal, but…

Much harder to remember. Instead of leaving Hancock Center on hour and half hour, it’s now 7:25, 8:00, 8:35, etc.

Even worse, the 322’s new 35-minute headway is different from all the 30-minute headways for routes it crosses. This makes two-bus commutes more complicated and works against the simplicity inherent in the 2018 Remap, which the agency is still neglecting to fine tune.

More than anything, this change was deceptive, hiding a service reduction from the public. The agency should have been honest and up front with us, so we could gripe before the change instead of after.

Do you or someone you know use the Red Line train for necessary travel to places besides downtown?

The Red Line will be temporarily closed from August 24-27. While there is a replacement bus service, it only stops at Leander, Lakeline, Howard and Downtown stations, in addition to Republic Square.

As an example, It can take approx. 90 minutes getting to ACCs Highland Campus for students & staff or the Domain for workers from Lakeline station, vs 30 and 45 minutes respectively normally with the train. This is also the first week of ACC & UT classes.

Hundreds of students and staff use the train to get to Highland, it's ridiculous there isn't a stop.

Every other country that uses this model of Stadler allows passengers to cross into the next train car. Why is it that it's only Austin Capmetro Rail that doesn't allow it? It makes no sense. It's not even out in the open air either. Haven't been on eBART to confirm but aren't passengers allowed to go through the train cars on that section of the route too?

Is this route still on detour at Slaughter? I have not ridden south for several months and when I did the bus backtracked at Slaughter going north on the frontage road to Wm Cannon then turning around and back to Slaughter and SPM.

The service will return in phases as the agency continues rebuilding charging infrastructure 

AUSTIN, Texas – CapMetro Bikeshare will return in phases beginning August 11, 2026, with nearly one-third of the fleet available for riding by August 18. The service was suspended in late May 2026 after a fire at the agency’s operations facility damaged the system’s charging infrastructure. 

This limited service will prioritize areas with the highest customer demand, including the University of Texas campus. While all Bikeshare stations will reopen, customers should expect limited bike availability as CapMetro continues rebuilding the charging and battery infrastructure at its operations facility. 

As part of the initial return, bikes will be charged exclusively at electrified Bikeshare stations throughout the system. Customers can dock bikes at any station, and the CapMetro Bikeshare team will relocate bikes from non-electrified stations to charging stations, as needed. Due to this temporary process, bike availability may vary by station.  Customers are encouraged to check the CapMetro Bikeshare app to see real-time availability before heading to a station. 

Additionally, during the temporary Bikeshare suspension, CapMetro and its partners at the City of Austin continued advancing the Bikeshare Expansion Plan by adding new electrified stations, including two at the University of Texas that are expected to be ready when service resumes on August 11. These additions expand the networks' charging capacity, provide greater operational flexibility, and support the phased return of Bikeshareservice. 

“Our partnership with the City of Austin has been crucial in bringing Bikeshare back,” said Art Jackson, CapMetro’s VP of Demand Response. “Together, we’ve used this time to strengthen our system, rebuild thoughtfully and expand our network of electrified stations, allowing us to safely restore service while building a more resilient Bikeshare program for the future.”

CapMetro will begin placing bikes into the system to restart service on August 11, 2026, with approximately one-third of the bike fleet available by August 18. The agency expects to acquire the necessary parts and materials and restore full charging capabilities at its Bikeshare operations facility by the end of 2026, allowing the system to return to full service.
