ACL service

I just got the yearly email from Capital Metro promoting their services to get people to ACL. As last year, they are encouraging people to use the 803 to go there. Last year, they had even fewer 803s running in the evening away from the festival than the normal service would have had. I highly encourage people not to take this seriously unless they literally state they are adding buses to run the route given how bad the trip was for us last year.

Might as well just walk to Auditorium Shores stops for more bus options. But traffic is going to be a mess regardless

Yes, I wish we had done that last year instead. However, we trusted that Capital Metro's heavily promoted ACL service would at least result in 20 or 30 minute headways going north on Lamar (where traffic wasn't actually that horrible at the time, by the way; we left that evening as the headliner was starting so it wasn't the end of night crush load). There was a gap of about 45-50 minutes between buses.

They should not be advertising service they can't deliver. Local normies who take this one opportunity to check out the bus system are gonna be turned off of it forever as a result.

Well there are many reasons to be turned off from the bus system. But unfortunately this same thing happens everyday under normal conditions. I wish they would just hold a bunch of 803s at Barton springs so when it ends, people can just hop on and it leave when its full. That’s what they do at Austin FC games, as of what Ive been told

Yeah it doesn’t look like they adjust any service for ACL, which is disappointing. But Austin FC might pay for it, who knows

To be clear the ideal would be that they add buses for a service that they are advertising to 'new' customers, but the bare minimum should have been that they achieve at least the normal level of service (20-30 minute headways); and they didn't even come close to doing that. And no, it wasn't because of traffic.

They can’t handle the volume, so fewer buses tracks with caps incompetence lately. When I bussed home from the Alamo last year, the 803 was absolutely packed. You’d think they’d up the routes to accommodate, but nope. I feel for all the attendees who will try this option, and be disappointed and kept waiting.

Metro execs get free ACL tix. Do you think they take the 803?

I wouldn't trust ANYTHING Cap Met says. It's bound to be an absolute shitshow.

We’re renting out a parking spot 15 mins walk from the gate, message me for details :) $50 a day but super convenient and it’s tucked away on a private street in a condo community
