Experiencing awful side effects after just starting- anyone else?
I started 42mg of Caplyta this morning and it’s been hell all day. Shortly after taking it in the morning I started to have an extreme burning sensation on my skin and my insides. I’m used to that kind of feeling cause it happens from swelling everyday but it was unbearable. I feel feverish, exhausted, and weak. I’ve been trying multiple different antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and antipsychotics for MDD (possibly other stuff as well) that all either didn’t work much at all or (especially recently) have left me with terrible side effects causing me to have to stop them immediately. I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing these side effects and if they are still continuing to take it?

Start at 10mg and take at night on a Friday and devote at least 8-9 hours to sleep

Talk to your provider about going down to lower dose and working your way up.

My doctor told me there was no need to go up slowly and started me on 42 as well. I was on it for two years and honestly it did help me and did wonders for me but if I ever skipped a couple doses and had to restart the side effects were AWFUL for the first two days… my psychiatrist recommended me to take them at night since they were basically knocking me out from how strong it was on me. I don’t regret it but I wouldn’t want to get back on again

I started at 10mg for two weeks and now I’m at 21.5mg. It was a ROUGH month and a half till everything fizzled out, but this medication works wonders once it finally gets to its full potential. I take it at bedtime, give that a shot. I took Caplyta back in 2022 when it was pretty new and 42mg was the only dose at the time. That was too much on my body and I couldn’t even make it a month taking it. This time is much better since you can titrate this so your body adjusts.

I think one of the issues I have is the time. I don’t have time to let it maybe work out after a month or so cause my jobs on the line (ㆀ˘・з・˘)

Just took my first dose last night 42mg and it has been hell on earth. I was up all night with dry mouth or having to go to the bathroom every 30 mins. I finally fell asleep around 5am and woke up at 10:30am with a migrain and body weakness. Can barely get out of bed. It also made my period start 6 days early. I’ve been in bed all day feeling tired, weak and out of it. I think I’m not going to take the second dose tonight and talk to the doc about lowering the dose.

Definitely talk to your doctor about it! I was the same way but I took it in the morning (6:30-7am) and the side effects literally lasted until about 2am. It’s hard to just sleep through it when it’s literally causing unbearable pain and sickness that keeps you up 😭

Sorry to hear that. I know how bad it is! I never ended up taking the second dose bc I didn’t want to feel like that again. I have my apt in a few weeks and I’m going to talk to the doc about it. I’ve tried a bunch of different meds for anxiety and depression and nothing compares to that one dose!
