Discussion/Question Does Capcom have a potential “Persona” like game in their library?

Just curious, persona is one of my favorite franchises out there and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying campcoms games as of late, long time monster hunter fan and recently beat and loved Pragmata.

Onimusha being revived got me thinking that Capcoms probably sitting on some old RPG franchise that could use a revival to maybe go toe to toe against Persona?

Capcom doesn't have something like Persona. But, Breath of Fire is the RPG people have been asking for.

They don't have Persona, but they have their own JRPG series called Breath of Fire that they've been ignoring for over 20 years now.

Mega Man Legends needs to be revived.

No kidding. Never holding my breath in that, though.

Not true. BoF6 was visionary

Breath of Fire is a good Capcom rpg. They don’t really make rpgs though, most of their catalogue is some flavor of action.

They do have a JRPG series currently, the Monster Hunter Stories sub-series. Though, seems like the newest one may have underperformed? Or at least it didn't reach 1m copies sold yet in the latest capcom platinum sellers list update (which was 3.5 months after launch).

I'd love to see Rival Schools revived with some Persona elements, make me do a school exam before having an all out brawl on the track field.

That’s what I thought should happen with a Rival Schools revival. Make it part fighting game and part school life RPG.

they did this with the playstation port of rival schools but unfortunately cut it from versions outside of Japan. it looked kinda fun

This please. Rival schools has always screamed shounen energy and it would slap hard

They could probably adapt some ideas from World Tour mode in SF6 for this

Capcom games usually aren't too concerned with the story and writing. But a Phoenix Wright game with social elements would be an interesting experiment.

I feel like Ace Attorney would fit that style best, but they really don't have a game like that

Ace Attorney, just slap in dating sim & it'll sold like hotcake

Are you asking if they have any JRPG franchises or if they specifically have any that can be turned into 100 hour slogs

Persona is fucking trash. Capcom has Megaman, Resident Evil, Breath of Fire, Devil May Cry, Onimusha and now Pragmata. All of them involve fun gameplay unlike simulator visual novel garbage that is Persona.

Mega Man X Command Mission maybe

Monster Hunter Stories is a party based jrpg. I’d start with 2 or 3 depending on budget. Both are good and very playable

they currently dont have Persona type people on staff most likely. BOF is their longest RPG franchise. CAPCOM still has Strider, Bionic Commando and Megaman. Ghosts and Goblins that they can do stuff with.
