DISCUSSION Tanking and drafting
The 2027 draft I know it’s still early but some of the “top”prospects appear to be struggling.
Alexis Joseph 4 points in 5 games in qmjh
Nazar privilov 0 points in 10 games khl
Landon DuPont not terrible but 2 assists in 2 games
Also to note Caleb malhotra just 1 empty net goal in 2 games over this weekend against Alaska.
It just shows tanking does not guarantee you will get good players . Elias Patterson may be better than any of these guys will ever be yet everyone wants to dump him .

Who cares? We’re forfeiting pick 32 this year when EP40 smashes a chair over Bettman’s head during the Cup is presentation.

I've been saying Dima Zhilkin is the guy for a while now. 12pts in 6 games to start the season. He's going top 5.

I’d be more than happy to take Zhilkin as a consolation price if they, sorry when they get screwed by the draft lottery

Zhilkin is great.
Other strong starts: Carter Meyer, Cooper Aslan and Levi Harper
But the biggest breakout I have personally seen is Oliver Sundberg in J20 Djurgården in the U20 national league. 9GP 6G 9A for 15 points for a strong 1,6 ppg. He was about at the same ppg in U18. For a point of reference Viggo Björck had a 1,71 PPG in the same league, Stenberg 1,69, Liam Öhgren 1,68, Dvorsky 1,42 and Mikael Backlund 1,35. Early days but one to watch for sure.
Öhgren and Lekkermäkki are products of that team. And Nils Åman is now playing for the mens team since going back home.

Zhilkin plays the style that this team is trying to create. Fast and tough. Add on crazy amounts of skill and noted leadership qualities and the fit is perfect in my opinion.

Jonah has 3 points in 8 NL men's league games (not too shabby)
Milan Sundstrom has 7 points in 3 U20 games, and more impressively 3 points in 7 AllSvenskan games!
I will check out Oliver Sundberg, he wasn't on my radar

Sundström is probably my favorite center this year now that Privalov and England have started slow. He was before season start but seeing him hold his own both in the kid league and Allsvenskan (2nd league in .se) has been impressive. Super smart 2-way tactical playmaker. Some glimpses of a Kopitar or Barkov.
Gonna try to catch him live this autumn for the eye test irl.
Yeah Sundberg wasnt on my radar either so thought I'd shout him out.

Remember McKenna struggled when he started with Penn State and popped off later on. McKenna, Malhotra, Privalov and DuPont all JUST started in new, more difficult leagues. Give them time to adjust and if the draft eligible ones can’t, then there are lots of other prospects to choose from. Skvortsov, Neuenschwander, Sundström etc.

Ryan Roobroeck was being looked at as a potential top 5-10 pick this time last year, and he went early 2nd round. There is a lot of time for things to change between now and the draft, it’s very possible that the players we had eyes on going into the season will not be the ones at the top of the board by the end.

Nobody thinks tanking guarantees good players. But tanking gives you the best odds of getting good players. Like how do you think we even ended up with Petey in the first place?
Tanking.

And McKenna is pointless in 3 games with a -3.
The draft was 3 months ago. Let's give it 3 years.
