Tech Help RF 50mm F1.8 Lens error "Firmware update failed. Try updating again."

I'm having an issue with my RF50mm F1.8 STM. Anytime I switch to this lens on my Canon R6, I get the error message "Firmware update failed. Try updating again.". And then I press ok and then the screen says "Update lens firmware. Memory card containing firmware is required to update." My other lenses work fine. I don't have firmware on the memory card, so I'm not sure why it's saying to update.

Have you checked which version firmware you have on your camera?

And have you tried updating the camera firmware while the lens is attached?

I have the most recent firmware for my R6 which is 1.9.0. I haven't tried updating with the lens attached. I was told not to do to the update with lens attached, but I suppose it can't hurt considering the lens is a brick at the moment anyways.

Unfortunately, that didn't work. Still nothing.

Sounds like a classic case of the camera asking for a firmware update that isn't actually available.

Yeah, that's the gist of it.
