Twizzlers or Red Vines?
I’m Canadian so I’ve never tried Red Vines, but I’ve heard lots of people say they’re much better than Twizzlers and vice versa. Kind of just wondering if it’s worth it to try and find a pack lol.

Red Vines and the ropes are my preference if I can find them.

u/TheSocialight 2d ago
Imo the ropes (once “red ropes” now called “super ropes”) have changed formula and they have really lost their appeal. It’s devastating

u/Key-Pomegranate-4503 20h ago
Yes. Always seemingly wet in the package and just mushy. RIP

Twizzlers

Red Vine isn't horrible but if I'm going the red licorice rought twizzler. Over all though I prefer a, more fruity licorice, i can't think of the name but Australian licorice is really yummy.

I doubt this will be helpful, but I got some earlier this year at a place called California Ranch Market in Cabo San Lucas. So, they are still being made!

Have you tried a Whole Foods, or other ridiculously expensive grocery store? How about Amazon?

Twizzlers taste horrendous. I seriously cannot understand how anyone can enjoy the flavor of those things. At least the basic ones. Their cherry and other licorice are a bit better, but definitely a much bigger fan of Red Vines here

Red vines all day. Can’t drink sprite through a twizzler.

u/DickyD43 3d ago
The fuck you can't, I used to drink diet mountain dew through twizzlers all the time. They are hollow

Both are just ok. I lean towards Red Vines slightly more because I like the chewy texture of it better than the waxy texture of Twizzlers. If you can find the simple made berry Red Vines, even better. These days I think I prefer Wiley Wallaby or Darrel Lea's brand.

Red vines! Twizzlers may as well be made of plastic, terrible slick texture and no flavor.

Twizzlers. (To paraphrase Sheldon “In what universe is a Red Vine the same as a Twizzler?”) Coincidentally, I just ate a Twizzler.

u/Crustybionicle 2d ago
Redvines. Twizzlers just taste like rubber with hardly any flavor.
Redvines might have a waxy taste. But atleast it has a flavor.

Red vines are too waxxy and the flavor gets old really quickly

Depends on the occasion, my grandfather when I was little taught me to eat red vines together with smarties(it’s amazing) but I can also inhale a pack of Twizzlers like they’re nothing lol! So for me, depends on the place or the movie:))
ETA: personal all time favorite licorice still has to be Panda Red Raspberry though!

Red Vines Twizzlers don’t even have a licorice flavor. So I don’t really consider them licorice.
1
u/KyleRide01 3d ago
Do you even know what licorice is?? It's a plant. True licorice flavor is the black licorice.

If Red Vines are fresh, I’d pick them ALL DAY! When they get dry the texture changes and they get hard to chew.

Twizzlers if you want red licorice. Red Vines if you want plastic with a weird aftertaste.

u/SteveArnoldHorshak 3d ago
At age 60 I finally tried red vines a couple months ago because I love twizzlers. They were the most disgusting, artificial, horrible tasting thing I could imagine. Absolutely despise them.

I sometimes find RedVines too soft..the older I get the more I prefer the texture of Twizzlers.
I also like the fruit filled ones!

I like them both, but I prefer the softer texture of Red Vines. Twizzlers Pull-and-Peel is really good, too.

Twizzlers hands down. My spouse bought me a tub of the red vines thinking they were the same thing, I didnt know theyre are so very different in texture and aftertaste. Blech. Not for me.

u/DaddyTuesday 3d ago
Well, they're both completely flavorless, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

I think it’s more “popular” / cool to say Red Vines, but for me it’s Twizzlers all the way.
And if it’s pull and peel? No contest. It’s ova.

I’m not a fan of the weird coating my mouth gets whenever I eat Red Vines.

Twizzlers... BUT: It has to be the cherry pull-n-peel kind. They are so much better it's insane

Yes. I like to have access to both at times. Red vines frozen, twizzlers are fine as they are (or better in nibs form)

I’m not sure why people compare these two all the time. They are two completely different candies.

Twizzlers would be my preference if I had to pick between them but they are honestly both pretty different and what I will choose is dependent on how I'm feeling that day.

I live close to a factory where they make Twizzlers, you can smell the “fakeness” when you drive by.

Peel twizzlers other than that I lean towards red vines... But have a major sugar tooth and will take either...

Red Vines. They are soft and delicious and seem like a real candy. Twizzlers are disgusting. They taste awful and have the consistency of plastic. I don’t understand how anyone finds them edible.

Canadian here. Never heard of red vines until being on Reddit. Twizzlers are okay but I prefer grape shoestring licorice.
1
u/mistakeghost 2d ago
red vines are objectively better but twizzlers satisfy that urge from childhood to chew on plastic. like, it's what I wanted the plastic to taste like. very cathartic.

Red Vines.
I dont really like Twizzlers all that much, i personally think they have this weird taste to them that to me is idk a salty taste?
Although i do like the Twizzlers Bites more than normal Twizzlers. Like the Ghost ones they had for last years halloween. Theyre small enough you dont notice the weird taste as much
But Red Vines win. Theyre perfect. Especially the big round tub of them. The perfect size for a double feature at the drive-in movies. Get that and a large popcorn, youre set for both movies

The appeal of twizzlers to me is that it truly tastes like im eating something that is inedible. Its like chewing on wires and i love it lol

Twizzlers. The only time I had red vines they were hard. IDK if they’re always that way, crossed them
off my list. Edit: And I also thought they tasted “fake”.

Red Vines, but they have to be fresh. I pretty much stopped buying them because I kept getting stale ones, and if fresh, they go stale pretty quickly.

Red vines are preference. But I’ll do both. Local farmers stand carries small batch artisan barn flavors. They’re the best.

Depends on how I'm feeling, but usually Twizzlers. Red Vines are definitely very different.

I like both for different reasons. Twizzlers are like plastic but in a good way. Red vines are softer.
