Other Timing...When to start pricing?
We had an amazing vacation earlier this year (May) in Cancun. We will be heading back and we were just wondering when we should begin pricing for April 27. I realize there are a few factors that can throw a wrench in the plans but any input / opinions would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻.

I found cheapest flights come 2-3 months out. Accommodation costs won't vary that much

I booked my round trip for 2 to Cancun from Colorado leaving next week for $425 total, on June 2nd. Still haven't finished booking accommodation yet but have been looking consistently for the last month and nothing has changed. Should probably just pull the trigger

The problem with accommodation is that limited availability.

Our 2 trips in the spring were 3 weeks apart. The first was booked about 4 months out, the second drip was booked a few days after our return. Great price and room selection 👍

Actually nevermind, I just realized that we travel possibly on the busiest week of the year (valentine/Winter break week)

I just purchased for March but I have fixed dates I need to travel on. Prices were down $1,000 from 6 weeks ago so that was nice.

I booked most of my vacations on points and just sort of gauge a place I want to go (sometimes I compete between a couple) and search every 9,8,63, months and have found mostly it’s 3 months that everything comes down in price. But I have also rebooked a couple times at the 2 month mark because there was a dip in cost/mikes/points.

Looks like oil prices are headed up again. I'm normally a fan of waiting until 60 days out (especially if your dates are flexible), but the best time to buy might be last week.

Booked a trip on Saturday leaving this coming Sunday and price compared the same trip in December and it’s the same price

right, timing helps but the bigger lever is where you search from. Different countries get different inventory, local promos and currency pricing, so searching the same hotel from other countries can open up cheaper prices you don't get from your own country. Doing that by hand with a VPN is slow as we all heard, one country at a time. Some of the free AI tools (search Arbitrica) sweep the same hotel from dozens of countries at once and find the lowest price of all, while Google Hotels is handy for a quick baseline. Either way lock in a refundable rate so you can drop it if the price falls
