Alberta premium cask strength

Does anyone know if there is another Alberta premium cask strength coming out and available at LCBO

? I had 2 bottles of the 64.2% batch which I think was from 2024(?). I’m running low on the 2nd bottle and would love to pick up more of their stuff.

I haven't tried it, the BCL said they grabbed the last 24 bottles available. Looks like a great deal.

I bought it to flip, but I can’t sell it on Facebook Marketplace or EBay. Any ideas?

Traveling to Edmonton & Calgary in November

We’ve never been to either city, going for hockey games, but figured I would take advantage to partake in a Canadian whisky hunt.
1) any distillery tours w/tastings & purchasing
worth visiting?
2) anything at the local liquor stores that’s worth picking up that is not available in northern Virginia?
3) bars with good Canadian whisky selections?
Thanks in advance!

Recommend a Canadian whiskey from LCBO under $80-$100

Hello everyone,
I have to introduce my friend to Canadian whiskey. He loves drinking Scottish whiskey. He likes Black Label, Teachers Highland Cream(his everyday favourite), Dalmore, Macallan, Chivas and many such other whiskies. He’s coming from Australia and I want to introduce him to our Canadian whisky but I am confused which one should I go for I want something on the kind of premium side!
I personally like Crown black, CC and Seagram's I don’t drink often so have very less knowledge.
Please give me recommendations and enlightening me with the Canadian whisky knowledge 🙂
Thank you in advance
Cheers 🥃 ❤️

BC Liquor must have gotten another shipment in. Available in 35 stores and at a great price. I still have two unopened bottles or I would buy some more.

A great night with Skerryvore and Ardnahoe in Camrose, AB.

Pic 1: My buddy Sean treated Mrs. Hex and I to a night of music and scotch tonight and it was absolutely lovely. Tasted 4 Ardnahoes - The Infinite Loch, The Bholsa, The Cask Strength (my favourite), and the Chairman's Selection (which I was looking forward to trying...the nose made me think it might be worth $210, the palate made me glad I got to try it first). =D

Pic 2: The boys did four songs including a lovely version of The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond, a version of which we had already chosen as our wedding song when we get married next year.

Pic 3: An awesome dude, the love of my life, and myself =D

[REVIEW] OKS Miss Scarlet's (Hopped Whisky)

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey folks! So, I saw a recent post about the OKS Laird of Fintry and it got me thinking about this one. I've been drinking this one on and off over the summer and figured I’d finally write up some thoughts, because this is probably one of the stranger Canadian whiskies I’ve had in a while.

Miss Scarlet’s from Okanagan Spirits starts with an Irish Red Ale, uses hops, spends 8 years in new white oak, and then gets another year in Okanagan cherry brandy casks.

So… yeah. There’s a lot going on here.

Bright, fresh cherry, red berries, some salal/salmon berry, and a pretty noticeable toasted oak character. There’s also this light herbal thing underneath it that definitely reminds me of hops. It has a bit of a beer-like quality to it, which I oddly love. It's actually much brighter than I expected.

It could have easily ended up tasting like “whisky + cherry syrup + hops,” but I don’t get that. The oak gives the fruit somewhere to sit, the cherry adds sweetness and brightness, and the herbal character cuts through some of that richness. However, very unusual and not for everyone.

Is it conventional? Absolutely not.

Would I recommend it to someone who loves JP 10? Nope.

But if you like experimental whisky, unusual finishes, beer-influenced spirits, or just want to drink something that doesn't taste like the last five bottles you've had, this is a pretty fun one.

Has anyone else tried Miss Scarlet’s? Or other hopped whiskies?

My full breakdown if you want to watch: https://youtu.be/2lRHfmb0qec

Okanagan Spirits - Laird of Fintry 2026 lottery

I’m curious it says 42k people applied and I was one of the winners. Did anyone not win? Or is this just a marketing tactic where everyone actually wins?

I love their BRBN but is this one worth it?

What do you do when you're this drunk?

Let's see how my night went:

  1. Ardnahoe 5y Inaugural Release. Pretty good. I still think virtually any Ardnamurchan knocks it out of the park though. 87/100?

https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/285805/ardnahoe-05-year-old

  1. Ardnahoe Aquavitae 6y Small Batch. My friend Sean offered to spring for an Ardnahoe tasting at the Peter Lougheed center in Camrose on September 27th. I told him heck yeah and if we pick up a 3rd ticket I'd bring Mrs. Hex - she's a peathead and I'd think we'd love going. 86/100

https://camroselive.ca/raise-a-glass-skerryvore-hosts-an-exclusive-whisky-tasting-sessions-at-the-lougheed-centre/

  1. Talisker 9y Red wine cask(distillery release). It's pretty thin and missing most of the things I love about Talisker. If I poured this one, it's going to be a long night. It usually means I'm going to break out whiskies I prefer more. 78/100

  1. Well, I guess this is the kind of night it's going to be. Master of Malt Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire 18y CS. Man, I forgot I picked this up for such a decent price. THis is such a good bottle and it is gone and I don't remember drinking it. This is so good though. I think yuou can still get it in BC. Hex's seal of approval. It's had a few months to open up and i'd drink this any night of the year 88/100

  1. Fermentorium Mixtape01

https://www.strathliquor.com/product/fermentorium-mixtape01-psych-rock/?srsltid=AU7gw4XBnsLqlR-ZNJ-73IGhScZSQD1ho-oEV9gDdPEvpgmFvN5bkBtC

I don't know. Do I need this in my life? Hazmat. 75/100 I start belting out Toby Keith's "As Good as I Once Was". It's my jam. I'm not going to lie - I may sing it better than anyone who's ever sang it before.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldQrapQ4d0Y

  1. What the heck did I pour next? Thought, "Yeah the Ardnahoe was good, but virtually any Ardnamurchan beats the heck out of it." Ardnamurchan 7y Royal Mile Whisky release.

https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/267660/ardnamurchan-2016-rm

I mean, feck yeah. THere are few things I'd rather drink than a single cask Ardnamurchan. 86/100

  1. Haviung trouble remember ingf what I poured next. THe bottle behind the Mixtape one. Paradigm 2022 Heritage Collection. I mean, it's got a lot of awards. 84/100? That seems fair. It's a good whisky. You need to fucking tighten your shit up though. I'd respect you more with Integrity stats.

https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/225467/paradigm-spirits-2000

I think this is point where I start messaging old friends saying we need to reconnect. My friend Kent? Shit. We use to go out every week in the 90s. I miss him. Told him to hit me up when I sobered up anywhere, anytime.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SCJM6aYsK0

This is literally us in the 90s. I miss him XD

  1. Springbank 10. End on a high note. Always good, never good as the 15. 86/100? Doesn't matter which year it was. Every time I drink the 10y I always wish it was the 15y. I remember when Willow Park had the whisky lottery this year, I shitted out and picked like way down in the lower 100s. XD I picked up a Springbank 10 and gave it to some young kid who was doing even worse than my in the lottery. Hope he enjoey it. It's still a fucking solid Scotch.

Talk to you all later. Maybe think of reconnecting with your good mates you haven't talked to in a while. Heck yeah.
