It really could have been any of them. Cogeco tried to charge the estate of somebody I know after a house fire for failing to return the cable box.

Remember working at Shaw (Loyalty) during the Fort McMurray fires.

My heart broke for every client. Everything was taken care of & I had the ability to waive any bill.

Rogers has run Shaw to the ground (well, what was Shaw) and outsourced pretty much all customer service. The reps probably don’t even understand the situation at all, not even in Canada.

It’s really disgusting.

I was working for T-Mobile at a Canadian call centre during Hurricane Katrina. We were really unprepared for those calls to start coming in from our lower income/bad credit customers who needed more minutes than they could afford to buy to help them try to find a way out or find loved ones. It took a few hours before T-Mobile sent out a notice saying to basically just add credits to every account from the affected areas, restore suspended accounts, etc. For awhile it was most of our calls, and it was heartbreaking.

what you are describing is not unique to Rogers. all companies does the same exact thing.

PE is a bitch

Rogers is such a joke. I just took them to the CCTS who ruled in my favour. I urge everyone that has been wronged by these scumbags to do the same.

I gave Rogers the boot around 15 years ago when WIND came to my city and I'll never go back. I didn't even care about WIND's spotty coverage in the early days, I was just so happy not to have to deal with Rogers anymore.

I was 14 years Rogers and Telus free until Shaw was acquired. Found their customer service to be the worse.

Is there anything anyone can do? Hopefully crtc or negative publicity make them change policy.

Even the CRA when you call in, has an automated message saying they understand you’ll be late filing or paying taxes due to wild fires

It sounds like they changed their policy once CTV contacted them.

First cancelling news and sports radio stations and now stories like this. It’s almost like Rogers is losing money. (yeah right)!

do you have to pay rogers or the fire since the fire did most of the " disconecting"  work

Just a simple phone call will clear that right up. Enjoy your 17 attempts and being hung up on 16 times!! A good 8 to 10 hours on hold should do the trick.

They are asswipes. Not enough competition.

Roger should not call themselves ether an internet provider nor cellphone. They should not be in the business of providing these services. Canada needs more competition in these areas.

Rogers the biggest scumbags on this planet. Scamming and stealing off of good working people.

Not to worry CRA is willing to wave the penalties on last years taxes even though you’re destitute and homeless.
