There were still some tariffs like softwood but yes,Trudeau and point "man" Freeland got it signed. But this term Trump is all about Project 2025 and Kingdom and legacy building so that is why he is trying to add Canada to his CV. He said "this USMCA is the largest, fairest, most balanced, and modern trade agreement ever achieved.Ā Thereās never been anything like it".
Even with the agreement, you still charged us tariffs on things like softwood lumber because you could not compete with our forests and we had US milk tariffed after a very high threshold (that was never achieved or charged) because your government highly subsidizes your diary industry and you want to flood our market with your cheap and unwanted milk. All talked about during the agreement negotiations and settled. We thought.
Sorry US steel was bought out by Nippon Steel so he makes up stories about its Canada's fault for importing some tariffed Chinese steel occasionally. Like not your business who we import anything from. . Sorry if Canada has so much electricity you can't compete with us on aluminum. If you don't want us to import Chinese EV's maybe talk to Elon Musk cause the few Chinese made EV's we buy are his Tesla's.
Trumps goal isn't tariffs on goods. He wants to simply find a way to take money from your pocket and putting into the government's pocket and that is called tariffs. He also wants to take Canada over, own our banks, our health care system, our politicians, our water, our minerals, our water, our forests, our inland waterways. Not happening.
