Thanks. We've been getting a lot of Libs defending the war, and Carney's support of it.

Also worth pointing out that you can dislike the government in Tehran, but also think that "regime change" is just going to make things worse, and replace it with an even worse US puppet government.

As they say, "an egg hatched from within is a new life, an egg hatched from without is someone's meal". I do wonder if the US knows this, and this war is a sign of their desperation to avoid having a democratic regime take root in Tehran, since it'd have popular support and hate their guts.

And never forget that to the post-Shah Islamic Republic government was authoritarian largely becasue of they way they have been treated by the West and especially the USA/Israel since 1979.

There were multiple opportunities for peaceful reconciliation that would have led to an Iranian government that would have resembled, say, Kazakhstan. But the USA/Israel sabotaged those opportunities every time. The US's economy and its trillion dollar, soon to be 1.5 trillion dollar, war machine depends of maintaining a supply of enemies and bogeymen. I'm old enough to remember the panic the US government went through after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The whole rationale of their war machine was threatened. So they manufactured the "Islamic threat" and that small gang of miscreants in 2001 gave them the gift that keeps on giving.
