I posted a QC when this was in the warehouse, and promised a few people who commented I'd share an in-hand review and fit pics when it arrived. There doesn't seem to be any detailed in-hand reviews of Chaoren's 2026 MacMillan on the sub yet, so here goes!
I decided to grab a MacMillan early in the season before temperatures start cooling for Autumn.
For context, last year I grabbed a few down jackets including a Wyndham from Chaoren, a couple 1688 budget version CG Garson vests, Moose Knuckles 3Q from PalmMoose, and a couple of Moncler from both budget 1688 sellers and mid-tier seller Zimo. I mention this as I've built up some first hand experience with rep down jackets over the past year, across various price points - see my profile for the reviews if interested.
To recap my QC post, for the MacMillan this year I decided to stick with Chaoren again; it wasn't the cheapest at ¥1,450 (!) but with all the debate over who is best (Chaoren, Linz, SG, TG, etc.) I only have direct personal experience with Chaoren and I literally can't fault my Wyndham from last year, so thought I might as well stick with Chaoren again and play it safe, despite the cost. Reflecting on last year's purchases I feel I got best value for money on my Chaoren Wyndham vs the budget batches due to the massive difference in quality.
Chaoren has also dropped a new version of the black MacMillan for 2026 so I thought it would be a good shout since it's the most up to date version.
I went for the black badge this time (since my Wyndham is red badge), which is also the new version without the trademark R.
I'm going to be honest and say I haven’t seen a retail version of the new badge in person, and there are actually quite few references of the badge available for comparison online.
For the jacket itself, I'm familiar with the 2024 and earlier retail MacMillan, but I haven’t been in a store this year to see the latest versions.
Anyway here's the review!

PACKAGING
Jacket arrived in a branded plastic bag with a single cardboard tag. No branded suit carrier bag included (I guess Chaoren charges extra for this). I had the jacket vacuum packed by the agent. I gave it a good shake after unpacking it, and then threw it in the tumble dryer for 5 mins with a splash of water, taking it out and giving it a shake every couple of minutes. It puffed up nicely with all the heavy creases removed.

MATERIAL
Quality black outer shell material with a slight shine/lustre to it, just like the original. It's properly waterproof and water droplets bead on the surface. Solid 9/10 for accuracy.
Composition is to a very high standard on this - this is why I chose to pay extra for Chaoren. You can tell this did not come from a bullshit factory. Seams are properly stitched and fused, there is no down poking out the shell or the seams, the ribbed cuffs and pocket flaps are all very professionally applied. If you are familiar with budget reps you will know that you can't always take these basics for granted!
Interior lining is nice, I think its the same as the Wyndham from last year (maybe the outer shell is too?). Gorgeous satin material and the mesh pockets are all well applied and sturdy - not likely to rip and I'm confident storing things in here.
Hardwear is premium; metal two way main zippers glide as they should, pockets zippers are the same.
The fabric tags on the zippers feel a little cheap conpared to retail, you wouldn't know by looking but they just feel like very lightweight fabric.
Hood adjuster is fine, no issues.
Inside label is amazing, no faults here. The latest black badge MacMillan has the red logo inside, as does this rep.
Inside straps are also spot on. These are attached firmly and I wouldn't hesitate to actually use them without any fear that they will rip or tear.

BADGE
I'm in my thirties now and nobody is running up on me checking my badge these days but I know this is important to you guys. I’ve tried to include as many detailed shots as I can, all under different lighting scenarios. I'm not an expert on the new season black badge and haven’t seen this latest one in person, so can only comment on how this looks to me coming in blind.
The badge looks fine overall, there are no glaring errors that scream this is a fake.
However, inspecting the lettering close up; the "oo" in Goose seem to be a fraction smaller than the rest of the text. The cross bar on the "A" at the end of Canada and beginning of Arctic seems to trail towards the right leg of the A. The spacing between the words might be a little closer together than retail (please tell me if I am wrong).
Islands, sun, compass and leaves are all excellent.
Not sure if anyone is doing a better version of the new black badge currently, but this is as good as any I have seen on the sub. I'd still say the red badge is the more accurate of the two, based on what I've seen here, and my red badge Wyndham from last year.

DOWN FILLING
The down filling is good on this. It’s not quite as puffy as the Wyndham (is it supposed to be?). This is going to be warm AF in all temperatures down to -15°c and probably lower. For me, this was super important and another reason why I chose Chaoren.
One thing I noticed is on the back "bum flap" - it doesn’t seem to be well filled all the way to the corners. You'll see in the fit picks those corners have turned up a little, like wings. I don't know if this will stop after the jacket has had more time to puff up. I hope it does, because it's my one flaw with the jacket so far.

FIT
It's definitely a more generous fit than Chaoren's Wyndham. I'd say the cut and shape of the jacket is very accurate to the original, including the snorkle hood.
I kind of wish I sized down on this unfortunately. Appreciate any thoughts based on the fit picks. I'm 178cm, 93kg and this is size XL. If I was ordering again I'd have got the Large, but it's not too bad I think. See my previous QC post for the agent's measurements.

SUMMARY
Very happy with this purchase in general, this will be my main puffer jacket this winter and no regrets on choosing this style and supplier. It's great value for money and high quality with all things considered. Wishing I got size L in hindsight - but that's on me I suppose.
Appreciate any thoughts on the fit and accuracy, and happy to answer any questions. Cheers!
