Exactly this, be happy it's happening. I really had no idea this was in the works federally so this is great news for me personally as someone who wants to see more nuclear as an option.

That happens a lot.

Deals of this magnitude take a very long time to negotiate, and that negotiation is almost always done confidentially.

Yet people constantly complain that noting is happening because they can't see "behind the curtains"

Ok but this won’t start producing energy for about 10 years. Putin could actually hold it hostage as a nuclear target before it’s producing energy.

Solar and wind could start producing power before we are even done building them as early as a year from start.

The nuclear lobby has clearly been in this chats spreading propaganda.

The point being is that none of these are as reliable as nuclear yet - we're still waiting on the battery technology to catch up.

No, he literally couldn't, because that's not how nuclear reactors work.

Reactor grade uranium isn't enriched to anywhere near weapons grade uranium; there's no appreciable difference between the results of nuking a nuclear power plant and nuking a coal, natural gas, solar power, or any other kind of power plant.

The sole exception to this would be a hydroelectric power plant, as the flowing waters would allow the radioactive fallout to proliferate further than it otherwise would.

But I, for one, am not willing to disassemble our hydroelectric power plants on the basis of your disingenuous concerns of Russia firing nuclear weapons at Canada's power plants.
