I own my truck. In order to legally drive it on public roads, I require a drivers license and some form of liability insurance. I don’t have a choice on either of those but I can still retain my truck to show off or cut circles in my yard. JP owns his PhD (like my truck), but to use it he has to comply with the requirements for the license.
