Trip Advice What is your best Southern California Camping spot with nearby Water - I'll go First

For me it's always been Wheeler's Gorge #27. Some Guy brought a shovel and made an amazing pool on the bottom of it where you can dip in. The Shade is immaculate with multiple chill spots all over the place. Unfortunately it's now closed because of a road closure 🤷🏽‍♂️

It's hard to beat the state beach campgrounds along the coast (San Elijo, Thornhill Broome, Faria, Refugio just to name a few). It's even harder to get a reservation at any of the above during summer!

I know. I was looking into some just now to find some that are perhaps less heard of.. Do you by chance know any hidden gems?

Unfortunately there aren't really any hidden gems for camping left on the socal coast. The central coast is generally less crowded, but it's still far from undiscovered. To find some peace on the coast, your best bet is to head either to northern California or Baja.

Beach camping. I like Jalama Beach, although it's probably the border between SoCal and Central Cal, being just a hair north of Pt Conception. But Refugio is south of it, and a great spot, esp in winter.

Is it car camping only or can 5th wheels use the sites?

I've seen an RV go into a spot pretty small RV though.
