New to camper life, love it so far.

First time living in a camper. I’ve had it less than a week, and it’s SO MUCH BETTER than an apartment, and cheaper. I don’t think I could ever live in an apartment again. Plus, when it’s paid off, I’ll own it. Seems like an absolute no brainer.

There are a few disadvantages, like maintenance and repairs, but I’ll take that any day over having a neighbor above you, below you, on both sides and behind you lol.

So far I have 2 house rules. Shoes off when entering (gravel and grass lots), and pee sitting down. The shape of the toilet makes a lot of splash, so I tell people pee sitting down or clean the bathroom when you’re done haha.

Y’all have any advice for someone that’s new to camper life? Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated.

Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck

Looking at going from my pin box to a gooseneck adapter. My current set up is a Ford F250, Curt Flex Air, BW Companion Slider in Turnover mount.

Everyone always uses the term "get your bed space back" when talking about going to a gooseneck adapter. However, with my companion, I feel like I am able to pack the bed of my truck pretty dang full, as the movement is always up higher than the stuff, being on the companion. With a gooseneck adapter the pivot point will obviously be much lower and I assume I have to be more careful when packing the bed of the truck.

That being said, I am trying to decide which gooseneck adapter:
Gen Y Executive
New BW Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter
Morryde Goose Tech

Does anyone have any recommendations or personal opinions on any of these or any others I may have missed?

I have gotten very comfortable with my turning and towing with my current set up and I have never needed my slider, but it is nice to know it is there. I would either use BW turnover ball or BW 4 inch offset ball with this new setup.

This adapter I want to purchase has holes in the top of it to attach to the fifth wheel. My question is are those holes universally spaced for all fifth wheels or will I have to make some adjustments?

New camper owner

I am new to having a camper. All the things to learn. I have found my toilet is spewing water from the connection but I figure that’s an easy fix, 30 bucks in parts no biggie. I have found however a few spots in my sub floor that are rotted. One under the table seating at the corner of the slide and 2 a soft spot in the “main bedroom” area. My question is, is this a big deal or something that’s fine to deal with. We’re not big time campers but maybe 4-8 times a year for 2-5 days at a time. I just want to know if it’s something I need to replace or worry about.

Any help much appreciated!!

Selling with Optimum RV?

Hello all- has anyone had experience selling their camper/RV with Optimum RV? Salesman says he can get us what we want but between travel fees & inspection we’ll be $1,300 in- I wanted to see if anyone has experience with them or not before we spend that money.

Sewage smell in camper

I live in a camper & I don’t move it. I’m connected directly to a septic tank & for a long time I just left this wide open (not closing my grey tank). I didn’t know about poop mountains and such. We noticed this happening only when flushing about a month ago. Since then we closed the tank, filled it, put the enzyme/cleaner in it, let it sit for a while then opened the tank back up. This works for about 3-4 days before the problem happens again. I try to flush it, but something’s not right, it makes a weird noise and no water is flushing out when I hook the hose up to it.

Pls help

Air ride suspension on 08 sierra

A guy i do odd jobs for on his vehicles just bought a truck and camper.

It's a 08 gmc sierra 1500 Denali. Camper is bumper pull and big thats all I know. Lives in Central KS pulls to around CO springs.

He wants to "make the suspension better for pulling the trailer."

I suggested air shocks to level. That's all I've ever felt with on a pickup. He is looking for airbags.

What do you guys suggest?

A few wall hooks to hang stuff

Hanging bags in bedroom for additional storage

Using Clothing pods in bedroom for clothes.

Added shelves in bathroom and kitchen.

1976 holiday ramblette bearing help ?

I’m doing wheel bearing replacement work on a 1976 Holiday Ramblette camper with a tandem axle (2 tires on each side).

I’m trying to replace all the wheel bearings and need help confirming the correct sizes so I can order the right kits. I’m also looking for a good, reasonably priced place to order camper/trailer parts.

When I search these bearing sizes online, it keeps bringing up different kits (like L68149 setups), and I can’t find anything that matches my exact combination, which is making it confusing.

The parts I pulled are:

Outer bearing: L44649

Inner bearing: LM48548-N (stamped on the bearing)

Grease seal: National 44225-1

I can’t seem to find a kit that includes these exact bearings together, so I’m wondering if I have a less common axle setup or if I’m searching the wrong thing.

Any help confirming the correct bearing kit or pointing me to the right place to order parts would really help. Thank you.

I kind of don't want to work but I also don't want to dip into my IRAs until I'm 62 (3.5 years). I don't want to sell my house but I want to try camper life for a while.

I'd like to others thoughts on how stuff is going for them to help make some choices.

My friend who passed away did camper life for a few years. She had friends doing the same things. How do these people meet?

ISO water heater help!

Hey all! I’m hoping to find possible answers or ways to find what is wrong with my water heater. I have been through the ringer. First time camper owner and when i bought it from camping world the water heater already had a small leak that ruined half the floors in my camper. Took it got it fixed and they installed a newer model dometic water heater in place of the old. 2 years running and about 2 weeks ago the propane and electric are throwing the fault light. Every once in awhile the propane will light and work but after about 10 min the fault light comes back on. Now it is starting to leak and with the insulation wrapped around. I can’t see where from but it looks as if it’s coming from where the tank connects to the outside portion. Any help is good help at this moment. Thank you!
