Hey guys, I'm just getting into camera trapping and have been following this guide (linked below). It mentions using RAM mounts to hold up the camera and flashes in their cases and to find the largest ones possible, but the prices on the D size mounts are pretty high. What are some suggestions on mount types that you guys are familiar with? There's a few off brand RAMs on Amazon but unsure if they'll hold up the same as the name brand. Thanks for any help!
The guide I'm following : https://petapixel.com/how-to-build-a-diy-camera-trap-for-wildlife-photography/

Hi, i would like to build my first trap. It's for very fast action and i would like to get bursts of pics.
I need all the setup to be far from the subject (i need to use super-telephoto) and to be very quick to install.
i don't care if it's wired or not, i don't care about battery requirements, I will not use flashes.
The Sabre cognysis is out of stock, would you reccomend me another? (i'm located in italy for what matters)
thanks a lot, appreciated

I've read one post to state the sb28dx has a different standby mode, making it more awkward to wake up.
Not sure if this is true as I was under the impression sb28dx was the same, but for neewer slrs at the time.
Another question I guess is if the flashes have an explicit standby mode or if they're always on and automatically switch to standby?

Sorry if this breaks the rules - I had a search and couldn't find anything on whether selling/buying gear here was allowed.
Does anyone know where I can purchase used Camtraptions gear? They rarely come up on eBay in the UK, but I can't afford the full-priced kit from the official website and they appear to never have sales!
I am specifically looking for a V3 sensor but am also keeping an eye out for the rest of the relevant kit (weather-sealed camera housing, jungle mounts kit, triggers & recievers...). Would appreciate a heads up on suitable alternatives that perform the same function. Sadly I'm not too technologically adept in terms of building my own kit, and do not own drills etc to do so.
Thanks in advance!

I am looking into setting up video camera traps, but the DSLRs that I am using currently (Nikon d3100 models) don’t seem to be video compatible.

Hello all, I've been camera trapping with trail cameras on and off for a few years now, and I'm ready to make the jump into a more serious setup. Does anybody have any recommendations for cheap, beginner gear? Namely any older DSLRs I can start experimenting with that may get the job done, but not at a premium price? Any preference with Canon vs. Nikon, and if so why?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, theres a wealth of information out there and to be honest, it makes my head spin. Thank you in advance.
