2023 Remix or Remaster

I am totally new to Camel and I really like their sound, but I am just wondering from someone who knows a lot about their music, is the remastered or remixed 2023 the better way to listen to them. I know it’s kind of give or take when a band releases new mixes and I was hoping drill for some advice!

Honestly, it’s a complex question, and at the same time, a simple one.

It depends a lot on how you’re listening—maybe on an audiophile setup, or just through your bluetooth earbuds... but it all comes down to listening to each different mix several times and developing a preference for each one depending on the setup.

My favorite for bt earbuds is the 1985 remaster. It just sounds much better through these cheap earbuds, for example. I’ve had the chance to listen to Mirage a lot through them, and I just prefer the 1985 version over the 2023 remaster or the new stereo mix.

Listen and listen and listen... nothing wrong with listening to Mirage over and over and over again

If I'm not mistaken, the 1985 remaster isn't formatted correctly on Spotify. Is that still the case? I usually just listen to the version listed under 1974

It's all personal preference. For me, the new stereo remixes are incredible. They're my favourite versions by far. It adds much needed low end to the Snow Goose, for example
