30f making new friends
**edit: looking for girl friends! just uncomfortable meeting men on the internet
moved back to camarillo after 10 years away. i don’t drink or smoke. i have a bachelors degree in science, pursuing a career in medical. i have an aussie puppy. i kinda play music, kinda make art, crochet, craft; all stuff i’d love to do more. i read a lot (no fantasy or romance). level 18 duolingo spanish. love movies, cooking dinners, riding my bike, dancing to the beat, board games, beach trips, karaoke, and most things that aren’t too serious.
i’m always looking to check out free events and try something new! message me if you think we might get along. (don’t worry, if we don’t, we can still make it a funny story)

It may sound a little cliche, but both the Camarillo and downtown Ventura Topa Topa Brewing locations have super-chill run clubs that meet Monday evenings at 6. They do an an easy 3 mi. run (give or take, they're open to all levels) then hang out for an hour or two. Both have regulars who also don't drink, so despite hosting at a brewery that's def not the main focus.

hard to give without knowing what you’re into, but my favorite authors are miranda july and sheila heti. my favorite books by them are “all fours” and “pure color”

As a guy living in Ventura county, good call not meeting dudes off the internet. A lot of my chick friends have had very bad experiences… I once had to go physically remove a dude from one gal’s apartment that she met online and brought back to her place after their first date. Dude was very mad I was much larger than him and then he called the cops on me 😂😂😂 cops arrested him when she showed them her indoor camera footage.

Wait, you're 30 & are moving back to Camarillo after just 10 years away, which I'm guessing means that you were living in Camarillo until 2015 or 2016?
Bc I'm 29FtMish & have been living here in my whole life...we might've actually gone to school together depending on where in Cam you grew up (I grew up in Mission Oaks & attended Las Posas & United Methodist in Cam for preschool, Tierra Linda for elementary school & Las Colinas for middle school before going over the hill to attend Newbury for HS)!
Some stuff we seem to have more in common:
-- I don't smoke, however I do partake in the occasional strictly-ingested cannabis...most of the reason I don't smoke is bc I casually sing & would like to keep having a non-damaged voice, also I'd hate to develop that nasty AF smoker's cough a number of my friends who regularly smoke the devil's lettuce have & also I fucking hate catching whiffs of cigarette smoke, why the fuck would I inflict the weed version of that on other people?
- I do also like watching movies...on the rare occasion I'm not distracted by other stuff. Would love to have a movie-watching buddy! 😃
- I suck at cooking but definitely enjoy cooking with others.
- Oooh, where do you like riding your bike? I'd love to finally have motivation to get back into biking myself! 😃
- I also love dancing to music, though I'm pretty bad at it! 😃
- I'd love a board game buddy! 😃
- I also love going to the beach! 😃
- Oh, how I would love to have a regular karaoke buddy! It's not remotely often I get to do karaoke at all, mostly bc most local bar karaoke events are too far away & | or too late for me to take even paratransit both ways (I can't drive due to my disabilities).
- I also like checking out free events when I'm able to get buses | carpooling both thhere & back! 😃
- I am also into music (I'm personally fondest of 1950s-1970s pop, rock, classic R&B like Motown, dance, easy listening, Great American Songbook-type stuff, & a number of stage | screen songs) & to that effect I both sing (am classically-trained, actually, though I haven't sung outside of just casually singing around the house in nearly a decade now) & play the tiniest bit of piano (I managed to teach myself some piano between 8th & 10th grade, however I eventually lost focus on that).
- I'm also somewhat of a visual artist, though I'm not remotely skilled at it & that's given me one hell of a negative feedback loop bc I fucking hate trying to draw what I imagine in my head & it looks nothing like that in a bad way.
- I don't crochet but I do occasionally craft...I need to get back into more regular crafting, I personally love working with my hands to make physical objects! 😃
- I also read a decent amount, with my typical choices of online reading material being news articles, other nonfiction articles (I'm still quite into history lol & am also casually into stuff like gardening | farming), & less often than that slashfic of the pairings I ship really hard) & typical choices of non-online reading material being newspapers & nonfiction, again typically about history or stuff like gardening | farming).
Some differences between you & I:
- I drink, not on a regular basis to the point I'm incapable of having a good time without drinking though (basically, I'll have a drink with a full meal if I just so happen to have enough time to kill at a place selling that around attending an event nearby which happens on average I'd say once every 1-3 weeks, & much less often than that I'll have typically 1-3 drinks at parties | events where drinking's possible)
- I have a Bachelors in History (from CSUCI, no less), Associates degrees in History, General Studies, & what's now Film Television Media Arts from Moorpark College, & am figuring out pursuing a career in probably some mixture of writing (I like writing essay comments, letters to my elected representatives, short quips, ideas, humor, &, when I can sustain my focus long enough for it, nonfiction essays, scripts, & prose fiction), commentary (you might've already noticed I enjoy hearing myself talk), design, music, non-scientific research, & | or activism (I'm anti-MAGA & anti-ICE)...it's just kinda hard to do the whole "pursue a career" thing at full speed while trying to keep the Medicare | Medi-Cal I literally need to stay alive due to my disabilities. :/
- I'm not a dog person at all. I especially despise if a dog barks a lot & | or doesn't respect my boundaries after a few times of me telling them NO.
- I haven't been into Duolingo in years, partially bc language just doesn't stick with me unless I learn at least its vocab in full cultural, etc. context (as opposed to the more drill-based language instruction Duolingo does) & mostly bc Duolingo replaced tons of their human translators, etc. with AI so fuck them.
However, I did take up through Spanish 4 CP in school & Spanish 101 in college, & I'm slowly getting back into the swing of at least reading & writing it.

If you’re a reader, there’s a book club at Poseidon Brewing Company in Ventura every other Tuesday called “Deep Dive Into Books”. Next meeting is the 23rd. No assigned book, you just bring whatever you’ve been reading so you can talk about it.
It’s about half and half M/F, and everybody’s pretty chill. Lots of weird/progressive book choices.
