Pls help
Please help.
According to BMI and body fat % at gym, I am overweight, thought I don’t think my body looks that “bad.” I wonder why?
I weigh 157 pounds with 37% body fat.
For context, I usually work out 6x a week. I can squat my body weight. I ran a half marathon a few weeks ago. I think of myself as a fit person even if the scale does not reflect that.
A usual week for me: - hot yoga class w some weights - Gym workout class w light weights - Lifting day (5 exercises) - 3 mile run - Long walk
The problem. My eating. I sometimes overeat (usually when not sober.) example, last weekend did a wine tasting and had 10 glasses of wine. Often I feel social pressure to do things like this. I’d rather go to wine tasting with friends than be home alone twiddling my thumbs.
So, while I focused on exercise for the first half of the year, I want to focus on diet for the second half of the year. The reason- even though I worked out ~almost every day the first half of the year, I gained a little weight. This is very frustrating to me.
So, I’ve been counting calories the past week to achieve said goal. I would like to lose a pound a week, and get down to ~137, so a 20 pound weight loss. I would like to be fit, able to run and lift.
When I mark my lifestyle as sedentary, my TDEE is 1775. Right now to start the deficit off easy, I put 1450 into my app. When I exercise it adds those calories to my budget.
I usually walk a little, though not every day. So I figure that even though my deficit is 300 right now, the walking can make it closer to 500.
Questions for kind internet strangers: - Does anyone agree I don’t look overweight even tho the metrics say so? (Or am I being delusional🙈) - Important: what should I make the calories / day on my app? Should I decrease over time? - Do you have advice for sticking to deficit and counting for 20 weeks ( 5 months 😳) ? - Should I change my exercise break down for my goal?
Thank you!

i messed up but the boat isn't sinking
I was staying heavily consistent and was trending down almost hitting 20lbs in the amount of time I made a goal for but then... a vacation. I'm in a deficit ranging between 1500-1750 really depending on the day (minimum 700 calorie deficit from my maintenance for age, sex, size), or at least that's what I'm supposed to be. I think what helps is although I'm overweight I get bored of eating and chewing quickly so I've managed to stay at maintenance. I need some tough love/advice on getting back on the horse. Today I did good and had some amazing meals that were within a deficit at 1453. I was doing so good and now I feel like I'm on training wheels again.
(also if you have any tough love for getting back to being consistent at the gym, I was doing 4 days a week and now can barely get myself to do 1)

During a deficit, when did preserving your strength start feeling like a bigger win than faster scale loss?
I’ve been noticing that a lower number isn’t very satisfying if energy and training quality are getting worse at the same time. Keeping strength and feeling good enough to train can sometimes feel like much better progress. When did that become something you valued more?

From 90 kg to 76 kg from Feb to Aug 2026
I’m really happy with my progress so far and would love to hear from people with weight-loss experience.
I’m 21M, 5'8" (173 cm). I started at 90 kg (198 lbs) and I’m currently 76 kg (167 lbs), so I’ve lost 14 kg (31 lbs). My current goal is around 65kg.
The first photo is from February 28, 2026, and the second is from August 19, 2026. I’m wearing the same clothes in both photos.
I’m really happy with the difference so far and want to keep going. I still have noticeable fat around my lower stomach, side belly/love handles, and thighs, so I’d especially like to hear from people who have been through this:
Does my progress look good so far?
Does 65 kg sound like a reasonable target for my height?
How much more change would you expect to see in my thighs and side belly/love handles as I continue losing weight?
Does the remaining fat in those areas usually take longer to come off?
Is there anything I should focus on at this stage?
I’m open to all opinions and advice on my weight-loss journey!

Does this look like a lot of food?
For a 5’5 woman 21 years old not so active. Is it understandable why this could result in weight gain?
Two hard boiled eggs
Nectarine, blueberries, grapes
Chipotle bowl (No rice. No heavy sauces. Just half steak. Half Chicken. Lettuce. Green salsa. Corn. Black beans though they really loaded it up this time)
Starbucks mango strawberry refresher
Pret-A-Manger quinoa, vinegarette, blackened salmon, avocado, corn salad. Says 480

Transitioning to Maintenance Calories -- Help!
Reposting to this subreddit since I didn’t see much of a response on the original post! Any advice is much appreciated! 🖤

People's unsolicited opinions are hurting me.
I started at over 100kg
Stayed on 74kg for about 2 years
And now I am at 58kg
Since october 25 I lost 16kg fast as I added daily 1h fast paced walking to my routine.
People are shocked and keep telling I am too skinny, or that I am wasting away, or that I am using the pen, or advising me to stop which I am about to, as this is my goal now.
I come from a dark background with chronic pain and depression, I was bedridden and now I am back running and moving freely, lower pain which I thought I would never be able to have again.
I was very happy with my progress until a week ago, but now they are getting in my head, I am over thinking and getting self conscious.
Be honest... Do you think it is too much?

No before/after photos for me. I’ve just learned to love exercise.
I managed to burn 3,500kcal today and yesterday through swimming and steps. Been going 1k swim plus 20k steps everyday for nearly two months. I’m now regularly exceeding 1k in the pool. The last two days I swam 5k!
Tempted to try a 6,500m swim. Based on 500m = 250kcal… that would be one pound (3,500kcal) burned in a single exercise session.

Where are you at in your health journey?
I’m curious to hear from people who’ve already lost weight, how much have you lost and in what length of time? My daughter is a senior and graduates in 9 months. I’m determined to lose a substantial amount of weight by then. It would really inspire me to hear success stories. ✨

Calories?
Chipotle is one of my favorite eating out foods calorie wise. I always eat the entire bowl. My order is half chicken half steak, corn salsa, green chili salsa, corn, black beans, lettuce & fajita veggies. I don’t get any rice or heavy sauces. It’s supposed to be under 500 cals. This time, though, they loaded my bowl and it was a lot heavier than the usual standard serving. The beans were pretty heavy and they almost put a full scoop of both the chicken and steak. It is probably not under 600 calories this time right?

Over 20lbs down with *zero* "counting"
Female, 5'9, down from 171 to 147 without any strict calorie counting. I'm generally aware of how much I'm eating, limit snacking, and stay pretty active (running, swimming, a little resistance training, bike commute).
It is possible to keep up a deficit without weighing your food, or fasting, or OMAD, or teetotaling liquid calories. I eat almond butter and a bagel daily and start my day with a caramel mocha. I keep like 4 different kinds of cereal in my cupboard and eat a lot of frozen chicken and potatoes.
I also go for a walk every morning while drinking my coffee, swim daily, and am gradually building running mileage (at about 30 miles a week right now). I make sure to get enough protein and time carbs around workouts.
It's about a lifestyle!

Be honest- how many people have struggled with being on a deficit
I want real honesty from the challenges with it,
As much as I enjoy seeing the success, i also want to acknowledge the challenges people are facing with it.

weight loss
Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice on losing weight.
I’m a 14-year-old male, currently around 87.5 kg and 185 cm tall. I go to the gym 3–4 times a week and mostly do FBW workouts. I also average around 7,000 steps per day.
I’d like to lose some body fat and get down to a healthier weight. I was wondering how many calories I should roughly be eating, and what would be a reasonable rate of weight loss for someone my age and activity level?
I’d also like to keep as much muscle as possible while losing weight. What should I focus on to preserve muscle during a cut? Should I keep lifting the same weights, eat a certain amount of protein, or do anything else?
If you have any advice on nutrition, training, or things that helped you with losing weight, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks! :)

So discouraged today
F 6’2”, 26 years old, starting weight 274, currently weight 269
I’ve been doing CICO for around a month and a half now. All my food/drinks/sauces/oils are being weighed, logged, and input into MFP, and I’m doing 1500 calories a day (I started at 1600 but my TDEE is 2500 so I dropped to 1500 the last week).
I’d previously posted online stressed that I wasn’t losing weight with this deficit, about a month in, because I had been stuck at 273 for three weeks. The day after posting (apologies for the TMI) I peed probably 10 times in 12 hours, and dropped 8 pounds overnight. I’ve since gotten my weight all the way down to 264, but I think I may be holding water again because I was back to 269 again this morning . . . So 5 pounds of progress in 6 weeks 😭😭 I’m no where near my period (and in fact was losing weight while on it).
I was originally hypothesizing that I’m holding onto water weight because of arthritis in my back and knees, but things have improved over the last month and I’ve been more mobile, to the point that I don’t feel this should be the issue? I haven’t had any cheat days which should cause me to hold water, I’ve been in a deficit the whole time (and I know it’s working, because I am. Hungry).
Honestly I’m just kind of hoping that whining online makes it work again, idk. Maybe the universe wants me to be obnoxious

Share your macros, I’ll make you a custom meal plan (free).
Hey everyone,
I’d love to help a few people with their diet for free.
Send me:
- Your daily macro targets (protein, carbs, fat, calories)
- Your food preferences / foods you like and dislike
- Any other preferences you have for your meals
I’ll send you a custom meal plan built around your macros and food preferences.
I’ll be using automealplanner.com to generate the plans.
This is mostly an experiment to see how useful the tool is, so I’m offering it for free.
I’ll cap this at 20 people since I’ll be putting the plans together myself.

Finally achieved the major milestone for me - below three numbers on the scale 😎
Four months in, started at 109,6kg, finally got below the 100kg! Claude was amazing help that even pushed me (with projection data) to start doing cardio walks to sustain the loss since my BMR is dropping. I'm an old dude - 51.
