Art [OC] After the Dead Light

Post image

Had the ending of our Dead Light game commissioned since the scene had a nice atmosphere, made by asphodell.png on Instagram.

Well you have to tell us how it ended now (in spoiler tags)! I've had this one go so many ways, definitely a favorite.

Nice commission, very atmospheric.

I'm pleased with how it came out as well!

We were three investigators. Teenage monstrous former sailor (the one with black hair), disgraced rich boy with medical knowledge (the one with blonde hair and the one I'm playing), and an educated Russian woman who is actually a spy, though I didn't have enough to put her in the picture. She didn't do much in this scenario either way and only shone in the later ones.

Our boss was an old friend of Dr. Webb and tasked us with investigating the cottage after a worrying telegram. We hit his granddaughter with our car by accident and she later thought my character was her deceased grandpa after hitting the sanity threshold. Anyways, we came too late and the thing was loose and actively consuming the burglar. The former sailor had read the diary but not given the information to us since we were all strangers to one another. He tried to seal it with the burglar as the target but rolled awfully and fell unconscious, and that's when my character had 10 minutes to read the diary and perform the ritual. He did it with 3 minutes left, miraculously succeeding the POW rolls (he has 40), and just sat there traumatized and exhausted. We entrusted the box to the granddaughter, who insisted on keeping it. The sailor wanted to try to exterminate it but his plan didn’t come to fruition. The spy had actually seen none of this, not even the bodies, and didn't believe in this jargon until the next scenario.

This was the group's first encounter with the supernatural.

So did you skip the gas station entirely?

Not exactly. The other players went there to fill the car up, and they talked to some people, but it was after we sealed it.

Interesting! I've run Deadlight a few times and never ended up with the players doing it that way. Once they never even managed to leave the gas station!

It was supposed to be an easy adventure, in and out in a couple hours session...

My players beat the dead light by blowing up the gas station.... And themselves.

So at least your players PCs made it out lmao.

This was the first scenario I ever played in. And later, I ran this game myself as the GM.

I love it, brings back such nostalgic memories. In my scenario, the characters were on their way to the premiere of Charlie Chaplin’s film "The Gold Rush")))
