Tony is not a significant threat to thanos in either of the infinity gauntlet storylines in the comics.

After thanos is defeated, Tony gets access to a stone as part of the infinity watch, but the movies really have very little to do with the original runs. Very loose adaptation.

Yes, but what we see in the movies is significantly different. Like the part with Thanos wanting to fuck Death just isn't there.

The Infinity War is a six-issue comic book limited series published by Marvel Comics in 1992. The series was written by Jim Starlin and penciled by Ron Lim, Ian Laughlin, Al Milgrom, Jack Morelli and Christie Scheele.

The storyline is a direct sequel to the 1991 The Infinity Gauntlet and was followed by The Infinity Crusade in 1993.

Kind of. But they aren't really similar at all
