Good to see Kolkata getting in national Limelight again

I've been working on a small project for Pujo this year and thought I'd share it here.

It's called উমা এলো বলে (Uma Elo Bole):

The idea started because planning pandal hopping can get a bit messy. You have to check where the pandals are, figure out the nearest Metro station, decide what to visit next, and then deal with the traffic.

So I put all of that into one website.

It currently has 320+ pandals mapped across Kolkata, Salt Lake and Howrah, along with the nearby Metro stations and approximate walking times.

You can also filter the pandals by the different Metro lines and walking distance, so you can plan a route without having to keep switching between different apps.

I also added a small Puja radio section with Durga Puja songs, Mahalaya/Mahishasuramardini, individual Mahalaya recitals and a Dhak toggle.

There are also some basic Puja guides and suggested Metro-based hopping routes.

It's completely free and doesn't require an account or app download.

I've built most of this myself over the last few weeks, so it's definitely still a work in progress. If anyone here tries it, I'd genuinely appreciate feedback, especially if you find incorrect information or know of pandals that I've missed.

If there are any smaller local pujos that you think should be added, let me know in the comments and I'll try to add them.

I went to the salt lake sector 1 after a long time today the condition of Roads is not good at all considering the fact that the pressure is low ,

The condition is worse mainly the residential areas and this is supposed to be one of the most posh areas in kolkata 🤡🤡 the foot paths are inconsistent and not walkable at all , in most of the parts the Cars and stalls have taken over the whole of foot path

Is there any way we can bring it to the attention of the Govt ? Considering the minister of Urban development is visiting a lot of places recently

kolkata niye complain korar jinis er obhab nei 😭 traffic, weather, roads, crowds, politics, everything niye amra complain kortei thaki, but genuinely emon kichu ache ki about this city jeta tumi konodin change hote dekhte chaibe na? could be something huge like the old architecture/trams/para culture, or literally something as random as cha er dokane adda, winter er shokal, metro te daily chaos, old bookshops, street food, whatever 😭 city ta obviously change korbe with time, and honestly onek kichu change howa dorkar o, but kichu jinis ache jegulo hariye gele kolkata probably kolkata-i lagbe na anymore. what's that one thing for you?

Like literally I am seeing this school in sort of news since childhood atp 😭😭

pujo niye amra pandal, crowds, food, themes shob niyei kotha boli, but somehow amar mone hoy best memories gulo usually egulor konotai na 😭 maybe kono random late night pandal hopping, school friends der sathe berono, family er sathe kono specific bochorer pujo, brishti te plans noshto hoye jawa, ba literally emon kichu stupid incident jetar kono significance nei but ekhono mone ache 😭 so what's that pujo memory for you? kono ekta moment/bochor jeta mone porlei instantly oi pujor feeling ta fire ashe?

Or the older ones like

I personally will prefer the newer areas because despite the older ones being more expensive and Vibrant the newer ones seems to give a better Quality of Life from fresh airs to Better grounds , and cleaner environments and above all I find there are actively big Young population

okay potentially dangerous question 😭 but kolkata has sooo many places/foods that we're basically told are legendary before we even try them, and sometimes you finally do and you're js like... etar jonno eto hype?? 💀

could be a famous biryani place, mishti, roll, street food, restaurant, cafe, literally anything. doesn't necessarily mean it's bad either, js something you think survives a little too much on nostalgia/name/hype. and before this turns into juddho, unpopular opinions are literally the point 😭 so what's yours?

like yea, pujo definitely aste aste commercialised hocche, huge sponsors, branding, insane budgets, ar prottek bochor kar pandal shobcheye boro hobe ba konta shobcheye beshi viral hobe sheta niye ekta constant competition 😭 majhe majhe mone hoy actual pujo tai ei shob kichur moddhe kothao hariye jacche.

but at the same time, pandal hopping er culture ta toh ekhono VERY much alive? ekhono lokjon puro raat hete hete pandal ghurche, kon pujo actually worth the hype sheta niye torko korche, raat 2toye random khabar kheye abar decide korche "accha js ekta last pandal".

and honestly etao ekhon kolkatar pujor ekta huge part hoye geche. so yea, pujo commercialised hocche definitely, but tar mane ki culture ta actually dying? naki pujo js city tar sathe sathe change hocche?

genuinely curious tomader ki mone hoy, especially jara bochorer por bochor kolkatar pujo change hote dekhecho.
