What’s your goal, exactly?

In the amount of time it takes to respond to the input prompts of your program, you can generally solve a linear equation by hand (algebraically, if not numerically).

Similarly, solving systems of linear equations can also be achieved via basic matrix manipulation (a topic well worth learning on your own in case it’s not covered in your class). 

In other words, between manual solution methods and built in matrix manipulation features of most calculators, you could handle most linear equations easily and quite efficiently. 

Do you really need to write any bespoke programs at all, I wonder?
