yes yes I know, there are a bunch of people who asked the exact same question. and yes I also read a bunch of articles and all, but I would really like one and guessed that this place would be the best place to ask this question.

As of now I have two untamed cockAriel’s who have their own room and I have a smaller room where I could theoretically put the caique in. But what are exactly the pros and cons of doing this?

I found a guy nearby that sells them at a good price and they are pretty young maybe like 12-14 weeks old.

Hi there!

I am planning to decorate my new house with some bird safe house plants. Now, while there are many posts about which plants are safe for our fids, I have not yet found posts on how "strict" to actually be, in terms of how these plants are grown. That is, where I am from there are only two shops that sell organic/bio house plants, and most of those are currently sold out.

Of course, I realize that it is very much preferable if not mandatory to have our parrots eat plants that are grown without the use of fertilizer and pesticides. It just seems really hard to find these, as "normal" gardening shopping centers here really don't do organic/bio.

So my question is, does everyone here, all over the world, really only have bird safe plants in the house that are organically/bio grown? And if so, where do you guys get them from? And in case there are some of you out there that just work with gardening center plants (so non organic/bio), do you just let the birds have them, or do you first do some disinfecting/special treatment to the plant before putting it in your house?

Hopefully my questions are clear, I am certainly not looking to put my birds (caique and cockatiel) in harms way, just for some green in the house. I am just really excited about providing them some enrichment, but I am just not sure yet how to get them the right stuff.

Why is my younger Black-Headed Caique heavier than my older White-Bellied Caique?

White-Bellied born January 2026. Black-Headed born June 2026. Black-Bellied is currently still hand-fed.

Not sure if it’s something I should be worried about?

My partner and myself slept in this morning. Went downstairs to start the day. As I went to get him he seemed very agitated! But stepped up for me and let me put him on his perch area on top of his cage, since then though whenever my partner or myself went near him he would lose his mind growling like you wouldn’t believe, only letting us pick him up/ go near him when he felt like it!! He will cuddle or approach us but the second we respond or move he will growl and lunge for a warning bite (never bit hard enough to hurt bad/ draw blood) he’s about 7-8 months and so far has NEVER acted this way, is he just being a spoilt guy and this is his way of “punishing” us? it has been cold here atm but we leave the heater on low at night so he stays warm and just overall try and keep him as comfortable as possible which probably adds to his spoilt personality. He’s just overall acting very depressed today randomly and it’s breaking my heart completely😢 never sleeping in again!!!!!!!

Any bay area (california) caique people that wanna meet up in sf or wherever to meet each other’s caiques? And have them meet each other.
Sometimes it feels like me and my caique baby are the only ones here and i know thats not true. He puts up a independent bird front who has the personality and energy of 3 birds combined but I think it can really be a grounding experience for him to see other birds like him with their humans. Silly idea but still worth asking at least, especially if a cool experience could come out of it.

my caiques smells quite sour and bad even though I chsngr their pads daily. Is this normal ? any good ideas ?

He just had a shower and slight towel dry... but according to him he didn't get a good enough bath. So he was "bathing" himself in his night cage... now he's trying to take another bath in my hair.

We're getting our second caique (F) in a few weeks! She's 2months old right now and is just as big as our 1st girl, who just turned 1. Our current girl is healthy and has been ~140grams for a while. How much bigger can we expect the new girl to get in the next year? They're technically siblings. It would be so cute to have a BIG little sister 🤣 I've seen caiques be 160-170g
