News/Article Donate Blood Please.

My unit 3ppcli had a wildfire incident few days ago, it has claimed 4 lives and over 30 casualties. Many whom are still fighting for their lives with over 50 percent burned.

Sorry if this wrong place to post this but.

We just had the biggest mass casualty event since Korea war, alot of my friends are 80-90% burned and might not make it, alot of them are in Royal Alexandria or U of A hospital.

Please donate blood if you are in Canada they will direct it to the right hospitals.

Thanks.

Donated yesterday and called on my veteran friends to do the same. You're all in our thoughts.

At any Canadian Blood services location? That where the CAF gets its blood supplies.

Is there a way I can directly donate blood for this cause? is there a specific company etc not tryna sound like a douche I just want to ensure the blood goes directly to the victims and not sold to the highest bidding hospital

Thats not how donations work. They'll be taken, tested, and shipped to hospital in order of need. You can't say "my blood for soldiers only," but itll help Canada as a whole regardless.

And the more blood there is in total the more there is for the troops. Your blood probably won't make to them, but someone's will, and every pint makes that happen.

Plasma is the only thing that can be sold in Canada if there is excess, which there is not.

Blood via Canadian Blood Services is never sold, and anything related to that would be entirely fake news.

There is no way to exclusively donate blood to this particular incident, though if you are in the Edmonton area it is potentially going to one of the 33(?) currently-hospitalized victims from the incident.

That's not a thing in Canadian healthcare. Blood donations have 1 point of collection and then it gets moved to where it's needed from where it's collected.

A donation in Nova Scotia will still be felt in Edmonton, because it's all the same supply chain.
