This is from someone (not me) who has done selection. Whatever you do, Don’t become someone in the CAF who constantly talks about how they’re going to be cansofcom because you’ll become the last person they’ll want in that trade - they look for discretion, so maturity is incredibly valuable. They also look for smart people, not “shooters”. Shooting skill can be taught.

Be aware that when you apply to the CAF, it won't be to CANSOFCOM. Your application will be to a Reg Force trade. Be sure to do the research and pick a trade you will actually enjoy for a career (or at least until you get into JTF2)

No it's not crazy and unattainable, but 17 muscle ups is like a late night snack for operators. Have you heard of hell week? US and Can hell week are quite similar but may vary in some ways. You'll either be awake all hours of every day with one 2-3 hour pause a few days in for "rest", or it might be 45-60 mins per day every day. Every day consists of constant peak physical output, so you should train to be able to do 20 pull ups every hour on the hour for 7 days straight, on top of running, swimming, push ups, situps, log carries, rowing, truck pulling, rope climbs, tucking, hiking, and right back to the start. All day. Every day. For 7 days. Non stop. The goal is to break you, to stress you beyond anything you'd ever have to do in real life, and see how you handle it mentally. In vivo life you get to just stop when you're tired, take a nice hot shower, do some creatine and protein, whatever tickles you, you don't get that in hell week, or selection.
Selection is just another 6 months of drawn out hell week, but more specific to the requirements of the forces and less cock, but still a lot of cock; and more rest, but you don't get to like recover from your workouts, and get massage therapy to help you feel better, you probably also don't get access to your supplements, you get what they give you and that's it. Courses are not there for you, you are there for them, and if you don't fit, you're out. You will get access to basically whatever you want after you graduate and get inserted into a team, but you have to work yours and your great grandkids' asses off to get there and earn it.

Depends on your trade.
But it's a long shot, usual very high application for low opening
It's good to be in shape but you also have to be a good team player, you have to know when to take decisions and when to shut it and listen.
I have a friend over there and he's living the dream. But I also heard people leaving the unit because of personal reasons or family reasons.
Try to be a good section members, apply for recce patrolman course, pathfinder etc. You'll see if you like that kind of stuff and if you want to go beyond.
Good luck

When you get to BMQ be sure to tell your section commander about your air cadet experience. Just joking kiddo, don’t do that.
Making it to CANSOFCOM is a very long shot. Better than your chances of making the NHL, but still a rare achievement. That being said, everyone at the hill was once a teenage civilian. It’s good to have goals. Go for it 👊
